Chapter 16: Christmas with a Twist

The next day, we had breakfast, then waited for the Weasleys to arrive. They came via the Floo Network at around half eleven. Stargline Mansion became noticeably more lively. My parents and Arthur and Molly became good friends straight away. Ginny loved my room. I personally found Fred and George both quite amusing. Charlie and Bill were just cool. I had heard about Percy Weasley, and I knew that it was a sensitive subject. The house elves were even more happy to serve more people, and cooked up a delicious lunch for the thirteen of us. My brother was due to arrive a few days later.

"You have a wonderful house," smiled Molly, "and this lunch is lovely."

"Thank you so much! I hear that you're a great cook too. Do you think the two of us could cook something this afternoon? Merielle and Javier don't really cook, and it'll be nice to share the experience with someone else," Mum answered.

"Oh, I'd love to!" Dad and Arthur were busy talking about Ministry business. Fred and George pulling pranks and jokes even at the table, though they knew their limits. To be honest, I think they were all quite awed to be in my parents' presence.

The whole party converged in the main living room, where the fire crackled merrily in the fireplace. We had decided to put up all the decorations tomorrow, so that everyone could help.

"We have three Christmas trees," I explained, "One will go in here, the second in the foyer, and the third in our other living room. Then there's the biggest one that goes outside. We'll have the stockings hung up by the mantelpiece."

"Do you have mistletoe?" Ron joked.

"We do," Mum responded, "But it's up to you as to where to put it." Ron raised his eyebrows, grinning. Honestly, that boy was too much.

So the day after, we were all busy transforming the mansion into a festive place. The staircase was covered in tinsel and decorations. The trees were overflowing with baubles and lights. The adults strung up lights on the outside of the mansion. Molly and Mum baked some Christmas treats for us. The decorating took up one and a half days, then it was all done. The mansion was aglow. My first Christmas in England. Surrounded by friends and family, in a warm, festive home. It was perfect. Whilst the adults sipped hot chocolate in the drawing room, the rest of us took upon the idea of having a pillow fight. We had built a fort the night before.

We were just relaxing on the 20th when Mum burst into the room.

"Elle, your brother's arrived!" I jumped up at once and rushed out, my friends following me. Our driver had gone to collect my brother from the airport a few hours ago. The luggage was being unloaded. I saw a tall, familiar figure rush towards me and sweep me up into his arms.

"Elli!" He laughed, "I've missed you."

"It's good to see you too, Jamal," I giggled as he spun me around, then set me down. He was exactly how I last saw him: dark, tousled hair; bright eyes; lean and fit figure; sun-kissed skin. He turned to my friends.

"And you must be Merielle's friends. She has told me all about you. Jamal Stargline." He shook all of their hands.

"I'm uh, Harry Potter," Harry said.

"It's a delight to finally meet you!" Jamal's eyes widened slightly.

"Hermione Granger," Smiled Mione.

"Ah yes, the brightest witch of her age," he nodded. Hermione blushed and looked at me, beaming.

"I'm Ron Weasley," Said Ron.

"It's good to meet you too, Ron." He greeted all the other Weasleys, and seemed quite impressed that Charlie worked in Romania with dragons, and with Fred and George's joke shop.
