Chapter 61: Discovery

Over the next couple of weeks, the atmosphere in Stargline Mansion began to lighten. Merielle and Narcissa began to bond, and even Lucius was civil, if not pleasant, to Merielle as well. Time really did work wonders. And talking of working wonders, Draco worked wonders on her body whenever the two of them were alone with time to spare. She had never believed she would crave someone as much as she craved him. Every touch was like fire to her skin, kindling the ashes within her. He used her body as a canvas, painting and creating something new with every touch. The two of them were beginning to reconcile.

At the Ministry, things were not quite as relaxed. No, it was rather tense. The Darkslayer hung an imposing threat upon them all, and the weight of keeping it all a secret made it all the more difficult. More often than not Merielle would come home from work exhausted, and not even Draco could entice more energy into her.

If they had time to spare, Harry, Hermione, Xander and the others would pay them a visit. It was one early Saturday afternoon that someone else stopped by.

"Are you expecting anyone?" Hermione asked Merielle, who shook her head.

"I'll go get it," Merielle said. She went towards the front doors, the others in tow, curious to see who this could be. And they were all indeed surprised. Merielle flung open the front doors and stared. The others too, had frozen where they were, blinking in astonishment.

"Hey guys," the first newcomer said, offering them a smile. Harry was the first to react, sprinting down the steps and towards them.

"Ron!" Harry laughed, hugging his best friend, "It seems like I haven't seen you in ages!"

"It's good to see you too, man," grinned Ron, slapping Harry on the back. The two of them grinned at each other. Their years-long close friendship had not been bothered the slightest.

"Oh Ronald Weasley!" exclaimed Ginny, storming towards her brother. Ron backed away hastily, holding his hands up in surrender.

But Ginny flung her arms round him and squeezed the life out of her brother. "I haven't seen you in so long, and you only hardly answer my letters! Have you been to Mum? She'll shout the life out of you, Ronald!"

"Yeah, but you're squeezing the life out of me," answered Ron, "and I'm sure Mum will forgive me for being away so long considering I was off pursuing my career as a professional, famous Quidditch player, right?"

Ginny merely gave him a look that suggested otherwise. She turned towards the second newcome. "And you! Oh George!" This time, she gave her fourth eldest brother a warmer and softer hug. George hugged his little sister back, giving her a small smile.

"Hey, little sis. How've you been?"

"I should be asking you that. You've been away with Charlie in Romania for years, then you were off with Ron. Are you slightly better now?" There was affection and worry in her voice.

George gave a shrug. "I've been recovering and I think I'm doing mighty fine now. Although you'll have to speak louder; I only have one ear."

Merielle laughed. "Oh George, you're still the joke-making Weasley I know." He gave her a wide grin.

"Ah, Merielle, long time no see. You're looking different. Your hair is, I mean."

She ran her fingers through a lock of her straight hair. "Felt like a change." She turned to Ron and gave him a hug. "We've all missed you Ron. How was it?"

"Bloody brilliant," he answered, "Your famous Quidditch aunt was a real help -and my fame too. I've been taken on by the Ballycastle Bats. You know, the famous Irish team that are one of the bloody best. At the rate I'm going, I'll be taken on by the Irish National Team itself. How brilliant will that be?"
