Chapter 40: Malfoy Manor
They rolled to their feet.
"That treacherous old bleeder!" gasped Ron, "Is there no one we can trust?"
"He was just trying to get Luna back," said Harry softly.
"I'll do the enchantments," grumbled Ron. Hermione froze, and they slowly looked up. There, clinging to the branches, was a Snatcher. Scabior. He held Hermione's silk red scarf.
"Hello, beautiful," he leered.

The four of them pelted through the forest, fleeing as fast as their legs could carry them. Every so often, Merielle would hurl a curse behind her. She really didn't care right now if they were Dark ones. Spells shot to and fro between the trees. Merielle engaged all the training her parents had taught her, rolling to one side and flinging a curse behind her. Spells ricocheted around her. She heard a yell, and knew Ron had been caught. Heart sinking, Merielle knew that they were done for. There was no way they could leave without Ron.
She felt her arms pinned behind her, then she was dragged forwards and flung to the ground beside the other three. Something had happened to Harry's face; it was blown up, distorting his features.
"Oh, I should've done you as well," breathed Hermione, looking at Merielle. Scabior's wand light shone above them, peering down at Harry.
"What happened to you, ugly? What's your name?"
"Dudley. Vernon Dudley."
"There's no Vernon Dudley on here," another Snatcher said. Scabior paused.
"Hear that? That means you're lying, ugly." He then spotted Merielle, and his eyes glinted.
"Well, well. Who do we have here, hmm?" He fingered her hair. "Merielle Stargline. What a shame we couldn't have caught the rest of your family as well. But I think you're going to be my favourite. Which means-" He inspected Harry's face, leering,
"Change of plan. We're not taking these ones to the Ministry."

They Apparated in the dark countryside, the Snatchers pinning them firmly. They were escorted past the neatly-trimmed hedges. Merielle saw a white peacock strutting along, ghostly in the moonlit darkness. They reached a towering pair of wrought iron gates. Merielle's breath caught in her throat. She recognised the three figures that came up to the gate.
Lucius Malfoy. Narcissa Malfoy. Bellatrix Lestrange.
Which meant...
Which meant this was Malfoy Manor. And...and Draco...he was here...She choked back a gasp. The other three seemed to come to the same conclusion as their eyes briefly flitted over to her. Scabior shoved Merielle and Harry up to the gate. Bellatrix's face leered at them, inspecting. Then the gate was opened.
The four of them were shoved and kicked up a hallway lined with portraits.
"My son, Draco, is home for his Easter holidays," said Lucius Malfoy, "If that is Harry Potter, he will know." Merielle lowered her eyes, holding in a scream. She couldn't see him. No. She couldn't. Not after everything.
