It was 6:00AM in the morning in San Francisco California and you wake up to hear your parents, Emma & Anthony talking loudly. As you walk down the stairs your met by your mom who had a very happy expression on her face. "Hi Mom, Dad. Why are you guys up so early your usually up around 8:00AM not 6:00AM. What's going on." You ask as you step down from the stairs & head into the kitchen. "Well, honey me & your father thought it might be a good idea if you open one gift for your 23rd birthday." Emma says. "Mom! My birthday isn't until a full on week! Why do you guys wanna give me a gift so early?!" You say. "Because we think you'll like this one more than any other." Emma says as she turns to Anthony. "Anthony go & get the gift, she deserves to know what we're hiding from her." Emma says as Anthony nods as Emma turns back around to face you. "Where is Dad going?" You ask. "He's going to get the gift now sit down & wait here." Emma says as you sit down at the kitchen table & wait for your father to return.
While you continue to wait you grab a piece of paper & begin to write.
"Dear Dairy I have no clue what is going on in my life right now. This morning I woke up to my parents talking loudly so I come down the stairs & then mom says that they (Mom + Dad) wanted to give me an early birthday present even though my 23rd birthday isn't until a week. But they said they think I'm gonna like this gift more than any other so now I'm sitting at the kitchen table waiting for my dad to bring the gift to me."
When Anthony finally finds the gift hiding in the car he walks up to me & sets down the small square box present right in front of me. "Go on honey, it's yours." Anthony says as you smile & begin unwrapping the paper. When you finish you open the small white box seeing 3 plane tickets. As you pick one of them up you see it says New York you immediately start to go crazy. "Mom! Dad! Is this true are you going to take me to New York!?" You say. "Yes sweetie we leave in the afternoon tomorrow happy early birthday." Mom says As you run over to her & dad just to hug them tightly & thank them. "Thank you." You say. "Your welcome now start packing your things." Mom says as you smile again & run up the stairs to your room to start packing.
When you finish you take one last look at your room before exiting your room. As you carefully carry the suitcase down the stairs your Mom comes to help you as she grabs your suitcase & sets it in the car along with your Moms suitcase & your Dads.
That next morning you wake up, get dressed, do your hair, get breakfast & before you knew it you were in the car with your Mom & Dad driving towards the Airport. When you arrive you get your suitcase along with Emma & Anthony. As you all walk through the Airport you find the plane travelling to New York & start to board the plane. This was your first time on a plane so you were scared but excited to be going to New York. When you all get on the plane you meet the captain & hand in your tickets then of course you all find your seats & before you knew it the plane lifted off the ground & headed towards New York.
It was now nighttime on the outside of the plane as you lie asleep in your chair but then you feel heavy turbulence from the plane. You hold on for dear life until your Mom tells you, "Honey, it's fine were just landing that's all." Emma says as you calm down. Well at least we were landing. "How long was this flight it didn't seem long at all." You say. "It was a 8 hour flight you slept most of the time that's why you think it took a shorter time." Emma says. Dang! 8 hours on a plane & I slept through most of the time! Wow I'm impressed with myself!
Once the plane comes to a complete stop you peek out your window to see large building's lit up in the night sky. "Wow..." You say. "I know right, it's beautiful." Anthony says. "Have you ever been here Dad?" You ask. "Yes actually. I went with your mother back in 2001." Anthony says. "Wait, 2001? Were you their with Mom during 9/11?!" You ask. "Yes, but we were across the bridge but we watched them collapse. It was terrible." Anthony says as you lower your head. "But luckily while we're here we can look at the memorial & where the towers use to stand. We can also look plenty of other places while we're here." Anthony says as you smile. A little while later you exit the plane & hop into you & your family's rented Jeep Wrangler & drive to the hotel where you all will stay for a week.
When you enter the room you set your suitcase down on the bed, open it, & grab a piece of paper out of it & begin writing.
"Dear Dairy so apparently I'm now in New York with my parents Emma & Anthony & it looks very pretty here I'm in my hotel at the moment but I did just look out the window & their are so many buildings & towers with bright lights lighting up the night sky here. I can't wait to see what tomorrow offers me on this amazing trip that my parents surprised me with."
As you finish writing you put the piece of paper back in your suitcase then you slightly & carefully slide it off of the bed. Once you do so you get all comfortable under the covers of the bed as your parents do the same & before you knew it you were fast asleep already thinking about tomorrow.
