A Unforgettable Trip: Chapter 17: Joanne Returns Home

Thanksgiving Day

It was rough night for you last night. Staying up with Ashley, &  not getting any sleep all because your Mom keeps calling you & Ashley won't stay asleep.
This morning you woke up to complete silence. Then you realized you weren't in your room.
You were at Adam's house sleeping in his bed. Adam wasn't around or anything. It was just you in Adam's bed awake & confused. You looked around the room once you got off of the bed & you found a note in Adam's tuxedo that he wore for your wedding in his closet.

Hi Harmony, I'm sure your very confused that your in my house right now but don't worry. I'm at the airport right now waiting for Joanne's plane to land. I'll text you when I'm close so you can get out of my house without her noticing. Also Emily is at your house taking care of Ashley if you were worried. Love you xoxo. - Adam Douglas Driver

Damn it! It's already been a month. That means I have to leave as soon as possible. But I can't leave now. Not when I said to Adam on the day of the wedding I would stick around so I can meet Joanne in person & hide the ring & the baby. I'm still gonna meet her nothing has changed with that.

You say to yourself as you take the note & set it on Adam's nightstand so you won't be bothered by it while you get dressed & ready to meet Joanne when she walks through the front door of Adam's house.
Once you finish getting dressed you grab your phone & set it down in your back pocket & then you head over to the kitchen grabbing a pop tart & milk then you sit down at the dinning table.
While you munch on your pop tart you scroll your text messages from Adam. Whether it be one's you missed or one's you forgot about.
Surprisedly you found that you did miss a text message from Adam. 4 months ago.
It reads...

Hi Harmony I can't wait to meet our baby girl. Were gonna teach her great things about you & I. Love you.😍

Adam is always such a sweetheart. Now yes, he has his ups & downs but that didn't stop him from loving you.

Once you finished eating you went back over into Adam's room so you could take your ring off & then call Emily.

*Ring...Ring...*

"Hello Harmony I'm taking care of Ashley right now if you were wondering. When are you coming back?" Emily asks through the phone. "Soon I gotta meet a friend that Adam has & then I'll be back home. How's Ashley doing?" You ask. "She's doing fine. She's actually asleep right now but she's been doing good. I taught her how to drink out of a bottle so there's that." Emily says. "That's good so she's having milk out of a bottle?" You say. "Mhmm." Emily says. "Good, well I gotta go I'll call you when I'm on my way back home. Bye Emily thank you for watching Ashley." You say. "Your welcome, bye Harmony."

Emily says as you hang up & set your phone back into your back pocket.

After another hour passes you finally hear the doorbell ring. You quickly ran over to the door & opened the door just to find the mail on the front porch.
You picked up the mail & opened it & the first thing you saw on the newspaper was a picture of you & Adam walking down this street in Brooklyn holding hands.
You quickly crumpled it up & threw it in the trash. Then before you knew it you saw Adam enter his house with Joanne by his side.
You calmly walked toward Adam & Joanne with your baby out of sight along with the ring.

"Adam who's this?" Joanne asks as she stares at you for a long moment. "This is my friend & she's been helping me out with stuff while you were gone. Like cleaning the house."
Adam says as Joanne stops staring at you & looks around the room.
"Well she did a good job. What's your name?" Joanne asks you. "Harmony Ocean nice to met you..." You pause. "Joanne. Joanne Tucker." Joanne says. "Well nice to meet you Joanne." You say. "Joanne will you excuse us for one moment please." Adam says. "Of course. I'll go put my stuff away."
Joanne says as she gives Adam a quick kiss on the cheek & then she walks away carrying her suitcase over into her room.
"What are you still doing here?! I told you to leave once I got here!" Adam says quietly. "Well I wanted to meet Joanne. Don't worry the baby isn't around & neither is the ring. Did you hide one of your rings?" You ask quietly. "Yes I did. But you should go before she finds out the truth."
Adam says as you sigh & walk towards Adam's room to grab your stuff & quietly put it away in your suitcase.
While you continue to put your stuff away you hear Joanne & Adam talking. You walk away from your suitcase for a minute & put your ear to the edge of the door to listen.

"So Adam. Are you cheating on me?" Joanne asks. "Joanne! What has gotten into your head! That girl is not my wife & she's not my girlfriend & also why would I cheat on someone like you?!" Adam yells. "I don't know. But there's something off  about you that I'm not liking. I'm gonna have food real quick because I'm starving while I'm eating how about you rethink things in your mind because this is just ridiculous."

Joanne says as she walks towards the kitchen while Adam returns to his room where you are packing up your suitcase.
"Harmony. Don't tell me you just heard what happened." Adam says. "I did... Adam don't worry I'm leaving I promise." You say. "You better be promising because I am not ready to tell Joanne the truth about you & I. Just finish up & go back home."
Adam says as he leaves the room.
Once you finish putting your stuff away in your suitcase you head towards the front door just to be stopped by Joanne on your way out. 

Shit shit shit.

"Hey where do you think your heading?" Joanne says. "Um. Home. Mr. Adam here said I'm free to go whenever so I decided now was a good time." You say. "Ok. First before you go, are you dating Adam." Joanne asks. "No! Why would you think that?"
You say & then Joanne shows you the crumpled up newspaper with you & Adam walking along the street in Brooklyn.
"Tell me the truth." Joanne says as Adam walks up behind her. "Joanne let her go."
Adam says as Joanne nods & lets you head out the door.
"Once you arrive at your house you see Emily on the couch holding Ashley in her arms. "Hey Emily. I'm sorry that you had to stay longer than a week. I bet your parents are worried." You say. "Oh their fine they just called me to see what's up & their fine that I've been gone longer. So who was that person?" Emily asks. "Look Emily I lied, sorry. I wanted to stay at Adam's house so I could meet his wife Joanne Tucker & I did & then Adam kicked me out."

You say as tears begin to fall down your face.

"Oh Harmony honey. Why didn't you tell me the truth?" Emily says. "I don't know. But it's time for me to go back home to San Fransisco with you & Ashley. I'll go on ahead & start your car." You say. "Wait shouldn't you take your car. Your fancy Lamborghini?" Emily asks. "No I'm gonna leave it here. Adam can take care of it while I'm gone."

You say as you wipe away your tears & go outside & get into Emily's Ford truck & fire up the engine.
Once you do you go back inside to talk with Emily.
"Is everything ready & in a suitcase?" You ask. "Yeah everything's all good. My stuff is in the back seat. You can go on ahead & put your stuff back their as well if you like."
Emily says as she continues to hold Ashley in her arms.
"I'll take care of it in a minute. You can go ahead & get settled. I just need to take one last look at this house before I go."
You say as Emily nods & walks herself & Ashley to the car.

Once Emily gets in the car you look in your bedroom for a second & then you pull out your ring from your pocket & set it down on the nightstand leaving it behind.
Once you do that you tear up but then wipe the tears away & head over into Emily's car.
Just before you headed off towards the airport you spotted Adam outside on his front porch. Head down in between his knees. He was upset.
