after picking up jeongin that one morning, it became a daily thing that'd i pick him up and drop him off every single day along with the other annoying boys. and although it was technically illegal, we were able to cram 4 of the 5 boys in the backseat every single day. they were all touching shoulder to shoulder and their bodies were tightly compacted but we made it work.

after school, i wait by my car, shivering as the cold air falls over my arms. they take forever to walk out of the school so i decide to start it and sit in it, all warmed up.

i play my music and when the passenger door swings open, my peace time is quickly interrupted by them arriving. "no! i wanted to sit in the front!" i hear seungmin's voice yell.

"no! i've never sat in the front!" jeongin yelled, they bickered outside of the car and it ended in jeongin reluctantly getting in the back after seungmin threatened to burn his house down. i was quite alarmed when i heard the words leave his mouth but shrugged because at least it ended with both of them sitting in my car.

i look in the rear view mirror before i even think about leaving. jeongin sulks in the back, between hyunjin, who was texting on his phone, and jisung. "if it makes you feel better, i'm not allowed to sit in the front" sung says, gently patting jeongin's shoulder.

"why not?" he questions the boy. i watch as hyunjin and the rest of the boys, all look at me quickly stifling their laughs. "yeah, sung, why not?" i turn around to ask him. he does a quick awkward laugh before answering jeongin's question. "i kind of pulled the gear shift while we were driving."

"driving where, sung?" i continue to press the boy about the situation he was talking about. all the boys start to let their laughs slowly escape as i ask my question.

jisung mumbles something but it's incoherent and i'm pretty sure jeongin, who was sitting next to him, couldn't even hear him.

"what? louder please!" i press my hand to the back of my ear. "on the highway!" he says loudly and the rest of the boys start busting out laughing, the whole car shaking as their laughs echo. "don't laugh at it!" i say, "he could've killed us!"

"it was funny in the moment" jisung shrugs and i shake my head. "it was not, i wanted to literally strangle you."

"funny! because you literally tried to!"
