Chapter 20

It was around seven o’clock at night when we finished our forth movie. Sarah had texted me about ten minutes ago that her and Mike were on their way back. I would’ve freaked out and shooed Ashton out of my room, but because of what happened earlier, I wasn’t worried. I wasn’t going to let my brother tell me what to do. When the movie was over, I got up and stretched. Laying for so long made my whole body hurt. Ash followed my lead and did the same thing.

“Well this was actually fun.” I said.

“Of course it was. You were with me.” He replied.

I rolled my eyes. “Don’t flatter yourself.” I joked, and he laughed. It became quiet all of a sudden. I was thinking about what he said a few hours ago- I hope when I tell your brother, things will be better for us. What did that mean? Was he going to tell Mike about us? I needed to ask.

“Hey Ash, I have to ask you a question.” I said, stretching my arms up above my head, and sitting on the edge of the bed.

He followed again. “Shoot. What is it?”

“Well before we went to sleep you said something about you telling Mike about us being together. What did you mean?”

He looked at me shocked. “Oh,” he said, rubbing the back of his neck, nervously. “You heard that, huh?”

“Yeah I did. Was I not supposed to?” I asked, furrowing my eyebrows.

“Well to be honest no, not really. I thought you were sleeping.”

“Okay, but I wasn’t. So what did you mean? That you’re gonna tell him about us?”

He looked down and opened his mouth to answer, but didn’t get to because the lock on the room door clicked, and in walked Sarah and Mike.

“Hey, we’re back.” Sarah announced.

“I see that.” I replied, laughing.

“Hey, we need to talk.” Mike said to me, trying to avoid eye contact.

“Sure.” I replied, not really interested in having this conversation right now, instead wanting to know what Ashton was going to say. But I knew I had to.

Ashton and Sarah excused themselves and left Michael and I in the room alone. I was still sitting on the bed and he joined me a few moments later.

“So,” he started.

“So.” I said back.

“I’m sorry I blew up on you the way I did. I know you and Ashton are close, but at the time I thought about him sleeping with you. I really am sorry. I didn’t mean for things to go the way they did.” He apologized, totally oblivious that we did sleep together. Not in the way he was probably implying, but still.
