Kam
Amir approached me the next morning in the hallway as soon as I arrived at school, cold fire in his usually calm grey eyes.
When he spoke, his voice was tight, stony, cold. Like he was barely able to keep his shit together. "Kam, we need to talk."
Just seeing his face... I clenched my fists. Just seeing his face made me angry enough to contemplate a lot of things.
Everything he had done, everything he had said to me in Offshore. The betrayal. The lies. The fight. I squeezed my eyes shut, stepped around him and continued walking.
He wasn't having it.
Within seconds, he popped out in front of me again, arms, tucked calmly into his pockets, the fire in his eyes, freezing over. "Kam, we need to talk."
I was grateful that it wasn't even seven yet, the school premises was yet to be littered with students.
I side stepped, tried to walk around him but he got in my way again. "It's about what you did to-"
"Amir..." I whispered coldly, drilling holes into his eyes. His calm, handsome face and angry grey eyes made the blood in my veins boil over. "Don't start this with me."
He shrugged, that hardened, accusing look, still in his eyes. He wasn't letting me go without a fight.
"Do you know... Do you even know how broken you left her yesterday."
I closed my eyes, an image of a heartbroken Asa, appearing. "I did what I had to do. I can't help her when she's intent on hurting me every chance she gets."
"She wanted to apologize."
I frowned at the entitled, holier-than-thou bastard. "You think I didn't know that?!"
He lost some of his anger, confusion marring his forehead.
"Look, Amir, you really need to stop butting your head into my business all the time. My relationship is not your concern."
He pointed accusingly at me, anger and horror, darkening the silver in his eyes. "You crossed the line, Kam. She's my friend and I care abou-"
"For goodness sake, Amir, don't give me that shit!" I spat out at him, getting in his face. "Two faced fucking eediot, you loved it didn't you? You loved watching her cry to you and you loved comforting her."
He stopped now, taking offence. "How sick do you think I am?"
"Look, Amir, I'm done with this, okay? At least, now I'm finally out of the picture, why don't you go do what you're dying to do? I mean, you're a much better candidate. Rich, good-looking, cool and mysterious-" I jabbed at him, but he didn't take the swipe.
