All that is gold, does not glitter. And it takes the death of a loved one and 10,000 promises of eternity for Kam and Asa to realize this and find true love, even in absolute pain...

The cold evening air pinched my nose as I tried to find the restaurant Haliya wanted us to meet. I looked at my phone for what must have been the thirtieth time, wondering how Haliya managed to find my Instagram and proceed to send me a text when she could have just told me, seeing as we roomed together.

I had put on the outrageous outfit like she instructed and worn my thick turtleneck hoodie over it, trying to cover as much skin as possible, and taken a shortcut I was sure would lead me to the cafe... I didn't realize I was inherently lost, until something particularly strange happened.
A motorcycle zipped passed me, sending my hair, flying wildly around my face. Almost immediately, an entire convoy of race cars, practically flew past me at record breaking speed. For the first time, I raised my head to look around my surroundings. There was absolutely nothing for miles and miles, except the empty dirt road that probably led to nowhere.
I'm lost. I muttered to no one in particular.
I froze in my tracks, trying to retrace my steps but I only kept walking in circles, in the distance, there was light, radiating from streetlamps, guiding me towards where I originally assumed was 'market square', the most popular area on campus.
It was not market square.
"That's what I've been trying to tell him, Godfather!"
That voice!
My saliva thickened, terror and confusion gripped my heart as I scrambled behind a thick shrub, my heart, pumping adrenaline into my veins.
I creeped behind my hiding place at the ominous scene in front of me. Roughly fifty posh, luxury race cars, circled around one particular matte black limousine. There were motorcycles parked alongside the cars... And... Figures, dressed in black, leaning on the vehicles...
A scream bubbled in my throat. I could reach out and touch the stifling electricity, crackling the entire atmosphere. In the dark, the entire scene made my joints freeze with fear.
I just walked into a gang gathering.
"Be quiet Dee." I recognized Jahseh's cold, firm voice. "He didn't call this meeting for you. Remain quiet until you're asked to speak. Remember, there are consequences for speaking out of turn."
Detra hissed, offended. "Look who's talking about consequences. I told you not to get involved! You're putting yourself at risk. You're putting all of us at risk! You keep breaking protocol! Going against the Sanusis for what?! Your dumb crush on Haliya? If godfather wasn't so soft on you, the management would have ended you a long time ago!"
Jahseh remained coldly silent.
I pressed my hands to my lips and peeked around the bush again. The door to the huge black limo, in the center of the gathering, suddenly creeked open. Everyone stood at attention, alert and on edge. Even Jahseh and Detra stood straighter.
