"We just see each other at weddings and funerals"

"Nietzsche once said, Man is as a rope stretched between the animal and the superhuman. A rope over an abyss. It is a dangerous crossing, a dangerous looking back, a dangerous trembling and halting"
The 7 members of the Umbrella Academy stand tall and at the end of a staircase, all of them wearing sport attire. Sir Reginald Hargreeve stood at the beginning of said staircase, while he wrote something on a sorta diary, Number Seven looked down at her siblings and her best friend. He closed his book and nodded his head to Vanya, who, as indicated, blew the whistle that was hanging from her neck.
The thirteen year old children start running up the stairs, with Reginald's voice sounding as they did so "As much as you must strive for individual greatness, and strive you must" Luther was at the head, with Diego and Percy not far behind him "for it won't come to you on its own accord" Percy was right behind Luther, just one push and she'll pas him. She did exactly that "you must also remember that there is no individual stronger than the collective."
Percy was at the head, Diego and Luther at her tail. Well, that was before Number Five teleported himself a few steps ahead of them. Percy just huffed, knowing that complaining would only waste her time and breath. Diego, on the other hand
"That's not fair, Five's cheating!"
"He adapted"
That's how it ended, Five in first place with Percy only seconds after in second, the others arriving not so long after.

When you were younger, you thought more than once about how cool it would be to have a tattoo, or am I wrong? And that if you did, you knew that your parents would literally fuck you up, isn't it? Well, that last one might not apply to you if you have cool parents.
But that's not the point.
The point is that, if you actually got a tattoo, you wouldn't tell your parents, right?
Well, that's exactly what Percy did. Even though she was forced to let herself be tattooed, she was kinda scared to let her mother see that she had a tattoo.
Of course, years later, that wasn't the only 'tattoo' she had on her body, and of course her mother yelled for hours after she saw both of them.
Anyway, Percy still remembers how much it hurt the moment the little umbrella was painted permanently on her wrist. She tried to hold back tears, because even though she had seen and lived horrible things at her young age, being tattooed at thirteen hurts like hell.
She wasn't the first one. In a corner stood a sobbing Allison, who was being hugged by Klaus, who had a few tears of his own.
Five, Ben, Diego and Luther were sitting on a chair each, squirming in their sits and frowning at the little noises and whimpers Percy left out every once in a while.
Vanya looked at them from the intersection of the big staircase, feeling completely left out, even tho a tattoo was painful, she wanted to belong, so she uncovered her forearm and draw her own version of the umbrella
Percy caught a glimpse of her after the man finished with her tattoo, and she would be lying if she said that she wasn't a little bit jealous of her. Why? Because she didn't go through that suffering and because she doesn't have to lie to her mom now.
