Sweetest Mistake

Chapter 7

That is perhaps the most unforgettable highlight of my junior high school years, probably the very reason why I entered senior high with full energy. Despite the failure to confess my feelings to Aidon, I felt at peace. I don't know.

I sighed. Yeah, I don't know.

My initial plan was to confess so I can finally move on from him, but I never thought I'd be happier now to still be in love with him. Wait. Did I just admit to myself that I am in love with Aidon Ruiz?

Okay. I am. And I don't mind. I'm keeping these feelings as long as I'm happy.

"Raven, ang guwapo talaga ni Kuya mo, 'no?" naagaw ni Mai ang atensyon ko.

Ngumisi lang ako, ayaw ng patulan ang papuri ng kaklase sa kapatid. Sobrang sawa na akong marinig ang mga ganiyang komento kay Kuya. I mean, he really is good-looking, but I wish people would see more of him other than his looks. He's got many good qualities to bring up, but it's always his face that takes the spotlight.

"Buti na lang dito pa rin siya nag-aral."

Kuya Ross pursued Accountancy here in the same university, while Aidon transferred to a prestigious state university in Quezon City. From what I've heard, he comes from a rich family, but is very independent. He has huge dreams and is very eager to reach them all independently. Haaay. My type of man.

Lagpas dalawang taon na rin ang lumipas. At sa dalawang taong iyon, hindi man lang ako nakahanap ng kahit na sinong itatapat kay Aidon. Hindi ko maintindihan, pero wala na akong ibang makitang hihigit sa kaniya, kahit pa subukan ko.

This is my last year as a high school student. First semester just bade its goodbye to us, but I am already done planning out the upcoming years of my life.

I will continue my college life here in Vellara University, will take up Marketing Management and work in our family company. Everything is settled for me... everything... until the bad news reached me.

Aidon is being linked to a woman for the very first time.

"What is the name of the woman?" tanong ko sa medyo mataas na boses kay Sophie.

Kagagaling lamang nila ni Karel sa university na pinapasukan ni Aidon para mag-apply rin doon at nagmamadali silang bumalik ng VU para ibalita ito sa akin.

It is not surprising that Aidon became famous in VU, because the population here isn't that big. Pero roon? Maraming tao roon at sikat na sikat siya? What's even more surprising is that... his name is being linked to a woman for the fucking first time.

"I told you, Sophie. We shouldn't have told her about it. It's no big deal." Karel coldly commented.

Asar na asar ko siyang binalingan habang inip na inip naman siyang makinig sa litanya ko.

"Karel? It. Is. Stellan. Aidon. Ruiz. We. Are. Talking. About. Here."

"And?" Karel taunted.

"The. Emotionless. Stellan. Aidon. Ruiz." I wagged my head in disbelief. Napatingin sa akin ang isang matandang babae sa kabilang table.

Naiingayan yata sa akin. Inilapit ko pa ang aking katawan sa lamesa para makabulong sa dalawang kaibigan sa harap.

"Do you understand, girls? Aidon has been emotionless for I don't know how long. Anong mayroon sa babaeng iyon at nagkaroon siya bigla ng pakiramdam?"

"Raven, don't conclude yet. We don't know if he has feelings for - ."

I cut Sophie off.

"Maraming nagkagusto kay Aidon sa VU, Sophie. Pero kahit kailan hindi umingay kasi alam ng lahat na walang pag-asa. Kaya anong kaibahan ngayon?!"
