Sweetest Mistake

Chapter 13

Natigilan ako nang ilang sandali dahil sa nakita. Walang imik naman si Aidon. Ngayon tuloy ay hindi ko alam kung guni-guni ko lamang iyon o totoo talagang nangyari.

After breaking free from that trance, I felt my throat drying up a bit, so I gently reached the glass and drank water from it.

While drinking, I saw Aidon's glance but his eyes left my face immediately.

Halu-halo ang naramdaman ko sa mga kaunting bagay na napansin. Para akong nakaapak sa manipis na guhit sa pagitan ng realidad at panaginip. Pilit na hinaharap ang katotohanan kahit na naaakit ng pantasya.

I forgot everything that I was planning to say just to spark a conversation with him. I got distracted by his mysterious smile and downturned eyes... like all those times before.

Aidon really has this spellbinding aura that holds the attention of people. He radiates quiet confidence. That even with just little to no words or motion, one will know that he is aware of his supremacy in many aspects. And that he no longer needs to brag about it, because nobody will dare deny anyway.

Ganoon na siya noon pa. Tahimik, pero matinik. Wala siyang kailangang gawin para mapukaw ang atensyon ng iba, sila pa nga ang nagawa ng paraan matapunan niya lang kahit na kaunting pansin.

Sa pagkalunod sa pag-iisip ay huli na nang mapagtanto kong tapos na siyang kumain habang ako nasa kalahati pa lang.

I watched him as he stood up and went to the sink to wash the plate and utensils he used. Samantala, pinanood ko lamang siya hanggang sa matapos siyang maghugas at muling humarap.

"You can just put yours here, I'll wash them later. And thank you for the dinner."

I smiled and nodded.

Kinabukasan ay naglagi ako sa terasa para magpahangin. Kausap ko si Sophie sa telepono para magkamustahan. Ang sabi niya ay hindi raw nila napag-uusapan ni Karel ang nangyari sa cafe noong nakaraan at ang mga ginagawa ko ngayon.

"She knows about your feigned accident and even when she's not commenting on it, I know she's worried. All ears siya everytime Julian and I are talking 'bout you."

"I miss K so much."

"And she misses you, too."

"Uy! I went to your class last week pala to ask for your missed lessons. Good thing, there's this Luigi who lent his notes to you. Bigay ko sa'yo bukas."

Noong nakausap kasi namin ang doktor ay naitanong ko ang pagbalik sa eskwela. Dahil tuloy-tuloy naman ang paggaling ko ay pinayagan na akong bumalik sa linggong ito.

I'll be attending my classes starting on Wednesday. I had to inform my professors beforehand so they won't be shocked when they see me back in their period of instruction. I also sent them a soft copy of my medical certificate and excuse letter.

"Thank you. You're the best."

"Siyempre, love kita." She replied sweetly.

I giggled when I realized she has not changed at all.

"I love you, too."

May narinig akong kaunting kaluskos sa likod kaya napalingon ako rito at nakita si Aidon na naglalakad palapit.

"I gotta go, Sophie. Aidon's here. See you tomorrow."

Marahang singhap ang narinig ko mula sa kabilang linya bago ibaba ang tawag. Maingat akong naglakad para salubungin si Aidon, pero matulin siyang lumiko sa hagdanan.

"Aidon!" I shouted out of rush.

He turned to me idly and raised a brow. For a while, I saw annoyance in his eyes that I almost stopped myself from talking.
