Alexander wondered how he always got himself into these types of situations. Tied to a chair, bleeding from his mouth, in an abandoned building, with a cracked out maniac holding a gun to his head.

"This is stupid, you know. You could just kill me and et voila. You got your revenge."

The man chuckled and lowered his gun. "Same old Alexander. You fucking bitch. I wouldn't have had to spend half my life in that cell if it weren't for you and him." The man glanced over to an unconscious Aaron Burr, tied up as well. Alex rolled his eyes. "Who are we waiting for anyways? If it's our fault, just kill us both and get over it. You have us both at the same time. The perfect opportunity, and you're waiting?" he asks.

"Oh just a friend of yours. You know him very well. And you're right. I could kill you both right now. But you did more damage than him so I'm gonna show him a bit of mercy and just kill him. But you? You're gonna suffer."

"And who is this 'friend' you speak of, Levi? I wanna know who you think is gonna walk into your trap. I don't have friends. I have an ex-wife, an ex-mistress- funny enough, they ended up getting married. Two friends who live all the way in France. A dead friend who was married to my ex-wife's younger sister. And an older ex-sister-in-law who lives in London. So please, tell me, who do you think is gonna come?"

"Oh, he's not really a friend. More of a, political enemy. Who you are in love with."

Alexander's eyes widen at the thought of Thomas Jefferson, his political rival. The tall, strong-headed Virginian who caught Alex's heart the moment he saw him. But Thomas hated him. He'd never come and save him. His death would make things easier for Thomas.

"I have surveillance cameras watching him at all times. Left a little note on his desk. And as it would seem, he's on his way here. I know just about everything there is to know about him. His personal thoughts. His secrets. His desires," Levi laughed. Alex struggled in his bounds. "He's gonna walk right into my trap and you're gonna watch him die, all because of you. Oh! Our guest has arrived. I'm going to go meet him at the door."

Levi grinned and left the room, closing the door behind him. Alex struggled in his bounds more. "Fuck- I can't let him get to Thomas. How do I get out of these ropes..?"

---

Thomas didn't hesitate. He wasted no time. He was speeding to the address left on the note. He couldn't let Alexander die before Thomas could tell him that he loves him. How did this even happen? Levi Weeks is supposed to be in a jail cell on watch at all hours of the day and night. There was nothing on the news about his break out either. And apparently he got Burr too?! How the hell was he able to catch a man that is either always hiding in the shadows or with his husband, Thomas' best friend, James Madison.

Thomas pulled into the empty parking lot of the abandoned building. How cliché. He got out of his car and made sure his gun was still hidden. The note said not to bring any weapons, but Thomas isn't that stupid. What he is confused about is why Levi wanted him. He has nothing to do with Levi's murder case and no actual relation to anyone who was involved. So why was he being dragged into this?

Thomas let go of his thoughts as he walked into the building. It was empty and dark except for the bit of light shining through the broken windows. It was extremely quiet as well. There was a long dark hallway with three doors. One led to a staircase. Levi wouldn't keep Alex on the first floor if he didn't want to be caught, so Thomas entered the staircase. This only made things more complicated. There were six floors to choose from and Thomas doesn't have the time to search each floor. He turned on his phone flashlight and checked the note again.
