"Alright class, get out your independent reading books. If we do good today, everyone can share the gifts they got for their buddies."
Mr. Washington examined his classroom. He taught reading and writing to kindergartners and decided that a way for everyone to make friends, was to create a fun activity called buddy-show-and-tell. Every week, the children were assigned new buddies for that week and on Friday, given everyone was well-behaved all week, got to show a gift made during arts and crafts time for their buddies, and did a gift exchange. This week was quite interesting.
As everyone got out their books for independent reading, Mr. Washington sat at his desk and went over this week's buddy list.
Buddy List for Week 12
John L. & Margarita S.
James M. & Aaron B.
Elizabeth S. & Maria L.
George F. & Samuel S.
James R. & Charles L.
Gilbert L. & Hercules M.
Alexander H. & Thomas J.
There were a few pair ups that didn't quite get along too much on one day, but the next day, they're best friends. Especially the last pair up. If their friendship had a disorder, it would be bi-polar. So far, they've been good this week. Let's just hope nothing-
"HEY! THAT'S MINE!"
Mr. Washington puts down his list as all of this week's work unfolds. "NOT FAIR! I WANT TO USE THIS CRAYON!" Mr. Washington looks around his class and his eyes land on a table at the front. And of course, it's Thomas and Alexander. "It's MY crayon!" Alexander fumes. Thomas glares and replies, "Well I want to use it!"
Alexander grabs the crayon from Thomas, who tries to grab it back. "GIVE IT!" Thomas yells. "NO WAY!" Alexander yells back. Thomas huffs and shoves Alexander. Alexander grabs his arm and sinks his teeth in it, making Thomas scream out. That's when Mr. Washington steps in.

"Thomas," Mr. Washington starts, looking at the boy. He looks down in shame, avoiding eye contact. "Alexander," Mr. Washington turns to the other boy who crosses his arms and glares at the wall. "You're actions this morning would have taken show and tell from not only yourselves, but your classmates. I talked to your parents and they agreed that only you two should not be allowed to participate."
"What?! B- but he started it!" Alexander whined. "My mommy said sharing is caring," Thomas replies. "It's only sharing if you ask first. You didn't!" Alexander shoots back. "BOYS!" Both children immediately silenced. "What you both did was very wrong. Alexander, you should know better than to bite people. Thomas, you should know better not to push people and ask before taking. Neither of your actions are justified. Therefore, you will sit out the rest of recess," Mr. Washington said.
Thomas and Alexander sat away from each other as recess started without them. Meanwhile, on the playground, some of the children play tag.
"Tag! You're it James!" Peggy says, lightly tapping the boy on the shoulder. "A- actually, I'm not playing. Me and Aaron are m- making flower crowns. I think Hercules is playing. Can't be sure though..." James trailed off. "No, Hercules and Gilbert are doing that thing behind the tree. Only they're allowed. I think they're doing the best friend ritual in holy matri-money. Something about becoming best friends forever and sealing the deal with a pinkie promise and a kiss on the lips," Aaron says, pointing at his lips. "Aw okay. I guess I'll go find John then. Bye James. Bye Aaron," Peggy waved them goodbye.
