"Ouch..."

Hercules rubs at his wrist in pain. "You okay there, doll?" the bartender asks. Hercules looks up, blinking a few times. "I think I sprained my wrist. It hurts a whole lot," he responds. "Hm. What can I get ya? On the house," the bartender says. "Shot of vodka, sir," Hercules says, leaving his wrist alone.

"That's a heavy drink for a pretty little thing like you. You here with anyone tonight?"

"Yeah, I guess it is. But no, I'm not here with anyone. Just myself. I actually just broke up with my boyfriend."

"Aw, that's too bad. I reckon he didn't deserve someone like you, huh?"

"I guess not. He was just too obsessive. I want someone to treat me right, y'know?"

The bartender slides over his shot and smiles. "There's a lot of talk of murders goin' on in this part of town. How 'bout I escort you to your home?" he asks. Hercules returns the smile. "Sure thing. It'd be nice to have a big, strong man to protect me," he winks. The bartender chuckles and nods.

———

"Thanks for taking me home. Why don't you come inside, have a glass of water? I can make something if you want."

"Whatever you say, gorgeous."

Hercules grabs the bartender, Jim's, hand and leads him inside his home. They take off their coats and shoes and Hercules pours him a glass of water while Jim looks around. "Is this your ex?" he asks, pointing at a picture. Hercules looks up and brings over the glass of water.

"Oh uh— yeah. That's him."

"He's a looker."

"Eh more or less. Here you go," Hercules says, handing him the water. Jim drinks it quickly and sits the glass down on the coffee table. Hercules' eyes flick to the glass and he takes a deep breath. "Well um, thanks for taking me home. I better get to sleep though," he says. "Oh..." Jim says. "What?"

"Well I just thought that... you know, for compensation..."

Hercules blinks and a fake smile returns. "Right, I guess I owe you now. Um... tell you what. Give me two minutes. You can wait in my room," he says. Jim nods and follows him to his room. "You can look around here for a moment, I'll be in the bathroom," Hercules says.

Hercules steps out of the room and goes into the bathroom, shutting the door. He pulls out his phone and starts texting his friend, Alex, when there's a loud thud. He puts his phone away and slowly walks out of the bathroom. There was quiet talking as he approaches his room door and places his hand on the knob.

Slowly, he turns it and pushes open the door.

"How nice of you to join us."

Hercules' eyes widen and he covers his mouth at the sight. Lafayette, his ex, stood there, a hand covered Jim's mouth to keep him quiet and the other held a gun to his head. Jim had a terrified look on his face while Lafayette had a crooked smile.

"I was just talking to, what's his name? Oh, Jim! Jim and I were just talking about you. Why'd you lie to him, Hercy?"

"Lafayette... what are you doing here?"

"Aren't you scared? I'm here because you seem to have forgotten that I am yours and therefore you... are mine."

"Let him go, he has nothing to do with this."
