"I need good sex and commitment from somebody loyal
Understanding, who won't change up
Take advantage of my emotions or my feelings
I need good sex and commitment"

Monica took her headphones off coming out of the recording booth. She had just finished pouring her heart out into her new single "Commitment." Missy had been observing Mo for days now and she knew the singer wasn't quite herself. Monica had been really distant and withdrawn from everyone and everything. Even her kids couldn't get her to crack a smile, her kids were her world. If they couldn't do it then no one could. Monica had thought her marriage would be her last but that dream was rudely interrupted.

Last year after performing at an overseas music festival Monica came home early to her husband fucking some hoe in their guest bedroom. At least he had the decency not to do it in their bed but it was still wrong regardless. Why would he even bring her into their home? What the hell possessed him to do something that was degrading and disrespectful in their home. In the home where they were raising their kids?

Monica had sat at the mixing board and tuned everyone else in the room out. She slipped the headphones on and listened to the unedited cut of her song. There was so much raw emotion and hurt felt in the song but her fans would consider it a bop. It was the old school Monica coming through and she loved it. Though she couldn't really show that she did. The depression she was going through was making it hard for her to show any feelings. When she was done listening she sighed but it was a good sigh. For the first time in days Monica smiled. This song would help her on her journey to healing after ending her marriage.

Brandy was messing around in the studio, not really sure what she wanted to do. She was messaging Rodney who was late as usual.  She started writing random little notes in her notebook. She was interrupted by Sarai calling.

"Mommy what's up?"
"Nothing Rai. Trying to write something new waiting on your Uncle Rod."
"That's cool and Unc don't know how to do nothing on time."
"What about that song that Kandi sent you?"
"I'm vibing with it. We might lay that track today. But Sarai why did you call me?"
"I wanted to know when you were coming home. Gram and Uncle Ray are annoying me."
"Ah-uh, don't do that. What did you do Sanai?"
"Literally nothing this time. I just wanted to hang out at Cam's house and they said no."
"That's cause Gram doesn't like Cam's 'fast ass'. Her words, not mine."
"Ohhhh, Cam ain't fast, she just has a smart mouth. Believe me Mommy she is still very much a virgin."
"I believe but I gotta go. Your uncle just got here."

Brandy looked him up and down and smirked. He was dressed like he'd just woke up and his shirt was wrinkled.

"Really Bro?"
"Sorry B, let's get this started."

He pulled his laptop out and hooked it up to the sound board to play the new tracks he made specifically for Brandy. He played five tracks and studied Brandy as she listened to them. Rodney could always tell when she was feeling a track. Brandy's eyes changed and she would sit up more. Her cues were easy to tell. Rod had always liked Brandy but every time he was free she was in a relationship and vice versa. The feelings never died but Brandy was in a space where she didn't want to date. He had to respect that. Within twenty minutes of him walking into the studio they had begun to record the song Sarai asked about on the phone.

They recorded two songs and were working on words for a third track. The songs they recorded still needed to be mixed properly but they would get to that later. Instead they recorded the ad-libs and background vocals. By the time they finished it was one am. Brandy began packing up  her things ready to head back to her apartment. Rodney also packed away his laptop and turned off all the equipment they had used. Rodney held the door open for Brandy, turned the lights out and followed her out. He went out the back door and Brandy walked towards the front. Looking down at her phone at a message Sarai had sent she bumped into someone. She looked up and was surprised.
