Nharro's POV

Tari and I might have stayed a few minutes too long by the cliffside.

I was dragging her past the park as I checked my watch.

6:59 PM

I mumbled something inappropriate under my breath as I pushed through the school doors and began running up the stairs with Tari.

She was getting exhausted at this point, knowing that she doesn't have much stamina. It's nearly nonexistent, but I wouldn't tell her that.

I dragged her up the last flight of stairs.

Then the bell rang.

Tari mumbled something that made me say, "Watch your language."

I mean, this is her second late in a row, but saying a statement with that strong of a language was a bit of an overreaction.

Tari stopped running and casually walked through the hallway while tying up her golden-brown waves of hair.

I was walking behind, watching her, but not in a weird way. I'm not that kind of person.

We both stood before the door. My best friend looked at me with her electric blue eyes. They held a mix of emotions inside, but there was a hint of happiness.

Kinda strange for her to feel happy at a time like this.

She opened the door, and we both walked in. The class somehow got a cold all of a sudden.

I pinched the bridge of my nose and lowered my head.

This whole situation was embarrassing for me. On the other hand, Tari looked totally calm and unaffected.

Anyone else who saw Tari like this would assume that she's unaffected, but I know her well. She's having a rush of panic right now. She's just really good at suppressing it.

Tari and our teacher were discussing something about being late twice in a row. I didn't catch much of the conversation. Unlike Tari, I focus more on the main idea rather than the details.

"Mr. Nharro Jhozserin, can you come over here?" Sir. Krej said while motioning me to come to his table.

I stood beside Tari as Sir Krej lowered his voice and said, "I hope this will not become common for you both, especially you, Tari. Both of you hold the highest officer positions in this class, and I hope the two of you continue set a good example like you both have these past quarters. Do I make myself clear?"

We both nodded and mumbled, "Yes, sir."

We went to our seats, but something was a little odd.

Tari was smiling, and it was so contagious that I started smiling too the moment I looked at her.

Fast forward to the third period, we both started to feel a little sleepy.

I wasn't paying attention to much of the class as usual since I summarize everything in my head. If you see my notebook, I only used up less than 5 pages so far this semester. On the other hand, Tari's notebook should be filled with notes now, but half of it was blank.

Her head was lowered, so I couldn't get a good look at her face. When I shifted the angle of my viewpoint, I saw her sleeping.

I grabbed my notebook and lightly slapped her forehead with it.

She jumped awake and looked at me in confusion.

"You were sleeping," I told her.

She rubbed her eyes and asked me what did she miss.
