Khathari's POV

I ran back out in the garden with Isti and her parents following behind.

At the site of the accident, Isti's father ran to the pond.

We saw Adorrudix floating motionless in the water.

Tears were blurring my vision as they laid him down on the grass.

Was he dead?

Isti's father laid his hand on Adorrudix's chest. His chest glowed underneath the father's hand, and he began coughing up water.

Without hesitation, I hugged him tight and cried aloud.

I thought I lost him.

"Djivann is still on the other side," Adorrudix said between coughs of water.

Isti's father was already making his way up the wall with a rope.

When he came back, he was holding Djivann, who was covered with bruises and blood.

He was unconscious too.

Djivann's father laid his hand on his son's chest, and once his mother washed the blood out, his skin looked clear again.

Unfortunately, he didn't wake up.

They took him to his bedroom, but Adorrudix and I were told to stay outside. Adorrudix was pacing back and forth by the pond, staring into the pond's water every now and then.

He doesn't look like he'll tell me what happened here.

I need him to trust me.

"Hey, you were asking about me last night?" I began.

He didn't answer, so I carried on.

"Well, indeed, I'm slightly affected, but everyone makes rash decisions when they're scared and tired like them. I think that makes them deserve a second chance."

He looked at me, puzzled.

"Many are going to take advantage of you if you keep doing that," he told me.

I was silent for a moment. Not because I had nothing to say, but rather that Nharro reacted the same to a similar topic when we were still getting to know each other.

"I know," was my only reply.

Adorrudix shook his head and smiled a bit.

"You know, you remind me so much of someone," he said.

Coincidentally, he reminded me of Nharro, but who's the someone he's reminded of?

We were silent for a while. Both of us were staring at the ground.

Adorrudix moved from his position and said, "There was this figure. It did something to Djivann. It also tried drowning me."

I looked at him with surprise.

A figure?

Before I could ask more, Isti came outside, crying.

Adorrudix came to her and did his best to comfort her.

I was standing a few feet away, but enough to hear her say "cursed" and "sending away."

Adorrudix left her side. He looked unsteady as he came to me to say, "They're sending Djivann away. He's cursed."

I couldn't believe it.

He continued, "His family believes the guardians have cursed him."

To sum up the rest of the day, his family was making preparations to send him to a place called Icsan Herrva.
