Chapter 15: Asereje

It was now December. A few weeks had passed since that Thanksgiving dinner at Savannah's house. Savannah never told Lauryce about Chafonda and Dadrian. She was getting ready to fly to Las Vegas to attend the Billboard Music Awards. Charles was nominated for Male R&B/Hip-Hop Artist of the year. His song "Get It Jumpin" is nominated for Single of the year. Charles's album "Round Two" is nominated for R&B Album of the year.

Savannah was super excited to go support her man at this major event. Savannah had finished packing. She went to the kitchen to get something to eat. As soon as she was done warming up some food, her phone rang. It was Lauryce. "Hey girl!" "Hey! Are you just as excited as I am about Vegas!?" "Girl, yes! So, are you done packing?" "I finished about an hour ago. You?" "Girl, I just finished right before you called." "Oh okay." "I don't really think that I'll be able to sleep tonight. Way too excited! You know I've never been to Vegas." "I know. You are going to have a ball!" "I bet." Lauryce started to yawn. "Girl, I'm getting sleepy. I will see you in the AM." "Okay girl." Savannah hung up and ate the food she had warmed up. After that, she got ready for bed.

Savannah couldn't sleep. She tossed and turned most of the night. Next thing you know, her alarm would go off and it was time for her to get up. Savannah got herself ready to head to the airport. Charles sent for a limo to come and pick Savannah up from her house. A car horn blew. Savannah grabbed her suitcase and walked to the front door. She was greeted by her mother in the living room. "Have fun Savannah! And stay safe." Savannah and her mother hugged. "I will mom." Savannah went out the front door. She turned and waved at her mother who was standing at the front door. Her mother waved back and watched her daughter get into the limousine. Soon it took off and was headed to the airport.

When Savannah arrived at the airport, she was greeted by Charles. They both got on the plane together. Jimmy and Lauryce were already on the plane. The flight from San Diego to Las Vegas was very short. As soon as they landed, Charles, Savannah, Jimmy and Lauryce got into a car that took them to the hotel that they would be staying at. Charles and Savannah would be staying in the same room together. Jimmy and Lauryce would have their own separate rooms. As soon as Charles and Savannah settled into their suite, Charles had to get ready to go to rehearsal. The awards show was going to be held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. Charles was going to be performing a medley of his songs. He would be performing his latest single, which was a remake of Jermaine Jackson's song "Do What You Do". After that, he would perform "Get It Jumpin". A live band was going to be accompanying Charles.

Savannah and Lauryce decided to walk around and see the many sights of Las Vegas. Savannah was in awe of everything that she could see. "Oh My God! Look!" Lauryce, wide eyed with a smile on her face nodded in excitement. Savannah and Lauryce didn't have a nice outfit to wear to the awards show. So they spent most of the day shopping. They hit up the eateries as well. By the time they got back to the hotel, they were beat.

Savannah made her way in the suite. Charles had beat her back from his rehearsal. Savannah had bags in both hands. Charles was laying on his back in bed holding a remote. He was flipping through the channels that were on the tv. He suddenly got up and helped Savannah with her bags. "Let me get those." "Thanks babe." "Damn, you got a lot of stuff." Savannah nodded. "I gotta look good for tomorrow. I can't wear my house clothes." Charles smirked. "I know that." Savannah took the clothes she bought out of the bags and hung them up. Charles was watching tv and Savannah all at the same time. "Baby, you hungry!?" Savannah was still hanging her clothes up. "A little." Charles looked for a menu. He found one that he liked. "I'm 'bout to order something. Whatchu want?" Savannah turned and looked at Charles. "What do they have?" "Burgers, chicken, pasta, pizza, fish...." Savannah looked at the ceiling trying to decide what she wanted. "Do they have Shrimp Alfredo?" Charles looked at the menu. "Yeah they do." "Okay, that's what I want." "Kay." Charles ordered the food.
