Chafonda, who was now 31, had gone back to school to study business. She now runs her own urban clothing store in the community that she was raised in. Chafonda had been engaged to her partner, Zakkia for a year and a half. But the marriage would never happen. The engagement was called off. Chafonda and Zakkia decided to go there separate ways.

Chafonda took a leap of faith in her life. She desperately wanted to become a mother. Motherhood had been calling her name for a number of years. Chafonda had talked her old friend Dadrian in becoming a sperm donor. Dadrian agreed. And now Chafonda is seven months pregnant. She will be having a girl.

Savannah decided to pay a visit to Chafonda's apartment. Through the years, Savannah and Chafonda's friendship would become so close that it turned into a sisterhood. Chafonda had decided that Savannah would become her daughter's godmother.

Savannah rang the doorbell and was let in by Chafonda. "Come in, girl!" Savannah came in with a smile. "How are you doing?" Chafonda looked at Savannah while waddling and breathing heavily. "Girl, I am ready for this girl to come out, now!" Savannah shook her head while chuckling.

Chafonda made her way to the refrigerator. She went to grab a small bottle of Sunkist orange juice. When all of a sudden a sharp pain hit her side. Chafonda would grab her side. Another pain would hit. Then another. Chafonda would fall to the floor while screaming in pain.

Savannah ran to the kitchen and crouched down next to Chafonda. She pulled out her phone and dialed 911. "911, what's your emergency?" "My friend is in a lot of pain. She's pregnant. Please, we need an ambulance here immediately!" The dispatcher would tell Savannah not to panic and stay calm. She also told her that an ambulance was on the way.

Savannah stayed with Chafonda until paramedics arrived and rushed her to the hospital. Savannah would call Chafonda's mother Terri to tell her what had happened. Savannah got in her car and drove to the hospital. As soon as Chafonda arrived, she was rushed into the emergency room.

Savannah went to the waiting room. A few minutes later, Terri and Chafonda's father Sanjay would quickly walk to the front desk in the emergency room. They both were frantic and wanted to know what was going on. They would find out that Chafonda was immediately going into early labor. They would sit with Savannah in the waiting room.

Hours would go by. Night would turn into day. Finally a doctor would make their way to Chafonda's parents with some news. "Ms. Wilkerson, Mr. Kumar?" "Yes?" "I'm afraid I have some bad news to tell you." Terri and Sanjay looked at the doctor teary eyed. "Your daughter didn't make it." "What!? Oh god no!" Terri and Sanjay sobbed while holding each other. They both would fall to the floor. Savannah would place her hand on one of Terri's shoulders while rubbing it. She too would be in tears as well.

After letting their cries and screams out, they would look at the doctor. "What about the baby? Did the baby make it?" "The baby is healthy and doing just fine. Would you like to see her?" Terri and Sanjay would both nod rapidly at the same time. "Yes!" The doctor had an assistant take Terri and Sanjay to the maternity ward to see Chafonda's daughter. They would eventually hold their grandchild.

Savannah stayed in the waiting room. Scrolling through her phone, Savannah would come up on Charles's old phone number. She had never deleted it after they broke up. Having no idea if the number was in service or not, Savannah took a chance and dialed it anyway. It would ring a few times. It was about to go to voicemail when suddenly it was picked up.

"Hello! Who's this?" "Charles, Is that you?" "Savannah!?" "Yes, it's me." "Damn girl! It's been a minute since I last saw you. What's been goin on witchu?" "I'm okay. I'm calling you with some bad news." "What?" Savannah would sigh before spilling the news. "Chafonda passed away." "What chu mean Chafonda passed away!?" "Charles, she's gone. She went into early labor and died during childbirth." Charles's voice started to crack. "What the fuck, Savannah!?" "I'm at the hospital. Your aunt and uncle are here too." "Okay. Imma get there. I'm in LA. So it's gonna take me a minute. Damn, man!" Charles and Savannah would hang up.

Savannah would eventually leave the hospital and go home. She wouldn't see or hear from Chafonda's parents till it was time to plan the funeral.
