"Good Mornin' Beautiful!" Charles would stretch his arms and kiss Savannah on her forehead. Savannah slowly opened her eyes. She would look at her phone to check the time. "Morning!? It's damn near afternoon!" Charles chuckled while shaking his head. "Ya know I put it on ya, girl. Had ya screamin' like an R&B singer." "Charles, there you go bein' all big headed." "Admit it Savannah. You missed this good lovin'." Charles would kiss Savannah on the shoulder.

Savannah sat up in bed. "I really need to get goin'. I still have a lot of work to do on this case." "Mmm....so how is Lavell?" "I went to visit him a couple of weeks ago. He seems to be just trying to get by day by day." Charles nodded. "Ya know he hasn't spoken to me in years. When his sister got pregnant, he didn't want to have anything to do with me." Savannah nodded. "Which is very understandable. You hurt Lavell. You literally were the older brother that he never had. And after his father died of a heart attack, he really could have used your presence. That's why he was acting out. That's why he's where he is now. And now I'm trying everything in my power to get him out. If not released, a lower sentence at least." All Charles could do was nod.

Savannah got out of the bed and started to get dressed. Charles slipped on some boxers. He watched Savannah get dressed. "You wanna get some brunch or somethin'?" Savannah shook her head. "Nah, I'm good." Charles walked up to Savannah and stopped her for a minute. "Aye, girl, you had me thinkin' maybe uh, maybe we can give this another try. Whatchu think?" Savannah's brows rose. "Another try? I don't think so." "Why not?" "Charles, there's a reason that you're an ex. You killed the relationship when you cheated on me with my best friend." Charles nodded out of disappointment. "Oh I see. So I'm just a friend with benefits." "I'm sorry Charles. But if you put it that way, yes you are." "Okay. Got a nigga feelin' some type of way n' shit."

Savannah started to pack her overnight bag. "Is that what you got out of this!?" Charles looked at the ground stone faced. Savannah sighed while shaking her head. "I was just lonely and horny. Chafonda suddenly dying had me all fucked up. Charles, I'm sorry if you thought that you and I could rekindle something, but there's nothing there. Friends yes, lovers no."

Charles sat on the edge of the bed looking down and not saying a word. Savannah finished packing her overnight bag. She grabbed her bag and walked to the door. She would stop and turn to look at Charles. "Charles, take care of yourself." Charles looked up as Savannah walked out the hotel room. She would close the door behind her. Charles stood up from the bed. He would get a glass and pour a little whiskey into it. Charles guzzled the whiskey down in one gulp and threw the glass at the wall. "Shit!" Charles would plop down on the bed. He laid there on his back while staring at the ceiling. He would eventually get up and get dressed, check out of the hotel and drive back to Los Angeles.
