Charles, Jimmy and Lauryce arrived in New York. As soon as they got off the plane, they headed straight to the hotel. Charles made his way in his suite. Before he could plop down on the bed, his phone rang. "Hey, Chuck speakin'!" On the other end was Charles's childhood friend Marcus. "Hey Chuck, we here!" "Come on up!" "Aight!"
A few minutes later, Marcus and another one of Charles's childhood friends named Chris a.k.a "Red" came up to the suite. There was a knock at the door. "It's open!" Marcus and Red made their way in Charles's room. "Awww shit! What up Play Boy!?" Charles, Marcus and Red gave each other some dap. They all had smiles on their face. "Man, you done came on up!" Charles responded as if he were Chris Tucker. "And you know this man!" Marcus and Red looked around the suite. "Last time I saw you, you were gonna quit being Maxwell's backup singer and dabble into songwriting. Now you big time! We proud of you boy!" Charles just grinned and nodded. "Thanks man! It means alot."
There was a knock at the door. "Come in!" It was Lauryce. Charles had invited Lauryce to come to his room so that she could meet his boys. Lauryce walked over to where Charles, Marcus and Red were standing. "Lauryce, these are my boys Marcus and Red. Marcus and Red, this is Lauryce, my wonderful hairstylist." "Well, hello there!" Marcus took one of Lauryce's hands and kissed it. Lauryce just giggled. "So you the one that keeps my boy's hair lookin' right." Lauryce nodded. "Guilty." "You must have a lotta patience to deal with that head." Lauryce just smiled. Charles looked at Marcus with a smirk. "Hey man, my head ain't that bad!" Marcus and Red both nodded at the same time. "Yes it is!" Charles just shook his head. "Man, whatever!"
Lauryce looked at her watch. "Well let me let you have your little reunion time. It was nice meeting you guys." Marcus quickly jumped in front of Red. He shook Lauryce's hand again. "The pleasure is all mine." Charles followed Lauryce to the door. "I'll talk to you later." Charles nodded. "Aight!" Charles closed and locked the door. "Goddamn! Where did you find her? The She's Too Damn Fine Braiding agency? Whew!" Marcus just shook his head. He looked over at Charles. "Tell me, if you hadn't got with Savannah, you wouldn't have gotten with that?" Charles shook his head. "I don't know about all that. Chafonda has marked her territory on that one already." Marcus and Red looked at Charles with raised eyebrows. "Fondy!? Li'l Fondy that use to follow us around everywhere?" Charles nodded. "Man, I ain't seen Fondy since graduation." Marcus just shook his head. "Well ain't nothin' little 'bout my cousin. That girl is almost as tall as me." Marcus just nodded. "I bet. But enough about those girls. We goin' out tonight! The strip club is callin' our name. Whatchu say playboy?" Charles looked down at the floor having doubts. "Nah, I don't think that's a good idea." Marcus looked at Charles with confusion. "C'mon man! Didn't you tell me that you and your girl are having some issues?" Charles nodded. "Yeah." "Well, then, let's go to clear your head. The Chuck I know would have jumped at the chance to make it rain." Charles grinned. "Yeah you right. What the hell!" Marcus and Red both smiled. Marcus put his hands on both of Charles's shoulders and squeezed them. "That's what I'm talkin' bout big baby!" "Savannah don't run me." Marcus nodded. "Exactly....so put on yo' flyest and lets roll out." Charles nodded. "Yeah aight!"
Charles got himself ready to go out with his boys. All three had a good time at the strip club. When they got back, all three men had passed out in Charles's suite. The next day was New Years Eve. Charles was going to be a guest performer on Dick Clark's Rockin New Years Eve special. By the time Charles had woke up, most of the day had gone by. He had to immediately get himself ready to go to the event. Jimmy, Lauryce, Marcus and Red would be ringing in the new year in the heart of Times Square. Charles performed a couple of his songs. At 12 midnight, Charles and a few other celebrities rang in the new year. Afterwards, Charles, Marcus, Red and Lauryce decided to hit up the club. Lauryce would only stay at the club for about an hour before she decided to head on back to the hotel. Jimmy decided that he didn't want to go to the club. He was too tired and sleepy. So he went back to the hotel. While in the club, Charles kept noticing his phone going off. He took it out his pocket to look and see who was hitting him up at that time of the night. It was Savannah's name and number that kept popping up. "What does she want!?"he thought to himself. Charles never answered his phone. Instead, he had it go straight to voicemail.
Charles was hanging out in the V.I.P section. A few minutes later, Marcus walked up to Charles. He had a young woman with him. "Hey Big Baby, I got somebody here I want you to meet. Her name is Datika."
Charles shook hands with Datika. "Ooh....I know who you are. Just the finest brotha up in here! You my favorite singa." Charles looked Datika up and down while licking his lips. "Oh yeah?" Datika nodded her head while biting her lip. "Mmm hmm." "Well damn girl! Won't chu lemme buy you a drank?" As soon as Charles said that, the song "Nothin'" by N.O.R.E came on.
"Ooh....this my song! Come on Hot Daddye and show me what you got!" Datika took one of Charles's hands and lead the both of them on the dance floor. They both were grinding all up on each other. After a few hours of being out at the club, Charles, Marcus and Red went back to the hotel. Charles staggered into his hotel room. He collapsed on the bed.
It would be late afternoon on New Years Day when Charles would wake up. Charles cracked his eyes open to the daylight seeping through the windows. He had a terrible headache. He looked over to his left only to find a young woman half dressed in his bed passed out. It was Datika, the woman he met at the club. Charles lifted the sheets up. He looked down to see if he was wearing pants. Charles was still fully dressed. He was relieved to see he still had pants on. Charles sat up on the edge of the bed rubbing his head. He got up to go to the bathroom to find some aspirin. Charles had a couple of aspirin pills. He got a glass and filled it up with water from the sink. Charles took the pills. He went back to sit on the bed. Charles picked up his phone. He saw that there were several voice messages on it. Charles decided to listen to them. The first message he heard was from Savannah. "Charles, Chafonda's been shot! Please call me back when you get this message."
