The next day, as promised, Charles made his way over to Savannah's neighborhood. As he was pulling up, Lavell had come out the house and walked over to where Charles had parked. Charles got out of his truck. "You know what time it is?" Lavell smirked and looked down the street. "Yeah, I know." Lavell really didn't want to go to the Bautista's house and apologize to Kwame and his father. But he knew he had to do the right thing.
Charles and Lavell walked up to the Bautistas front door. Charles rang the doorbell. Kwame would answer the door. "Wassup Lavell?" "Sup!" Kwame saw Charles standing behind Lavell. "What's he doing here?" Kwame started to ball up his fists. "Look man, I didn't come here to throw down!" Lavell raised one of his hands up. "He's here because there's something I gotta tell you." Kwame raised his brows, still a little rowded up."What!?" "I'm the one that let the air out of Chuck's tires." Charles nodded while looking at Lavell. Kwame was pissed. "What!?" "It was me! I did it! And I'm sorry." Kwame was fuming. "You know people 'round here actually started to believe that it was actually me that did that. I kept telling everyone that it wasn't me! And this whole time it was you that should have been scolded." Charles chimed in. "And I'm here to apologize for my accusation against you. I admit that I was wrong." Kwame nodded. "Yeah you were." "Is your dad here? I want to apologize to him as well." Kwame shook his head. "No, he's not here. But I'll let him know." "Thanks." Lavell was ready to leave. But before Charles and Lavell left, they apologized to Kwame once more. "Once again, we're really sorry." "Yeah." Kwame had shut the door.
Lavell went across the street before Charles did. Charles remotely unlocked his truck so that Lavell could get in. As soon as Charles was getting ready to cross the street, the front door to Kwame's house opened. Kwame's mother Carla peered her head out the door. "Young man!" Charles stopped and turned around. "Yes?" "I saw what you did. I'm glad that you admitted your wrongs and are actually working on those steps on improving your behavior." "Thank you ma'am." "Hold on, one more thing! My daughter wants to meet you. She's a little shy. You're her favorite." Charles cracked a smile. "Yeah sure!"
Carla went to get her daughter Brandy. Brandy came outside. She walked up to Charles with her head down. She extended her hand out. "Hi!" Charles shook hands with Brandy. "Wassup young lady! You gonna look up or what?" Brandy slowly looked up at Charles. "There we go! Now I can finally see that pretty little face." Brandy bashfully grinned and blushed. "You're my favorite, favorite singer! Can you sign my cd?" Brandy held out her cd of Charles's album. "Yeah sure!" Charles tapped his pants pockets while looking for a pen. "I don't have a pen on me." "I do." Brandy pulled a pen out. "Here ya go!" Charles signed Brandy's cd. "Oh thank you!" Charles smiled. "You're welcome." "Can I have a hug?" Charles nodded. "Okay." Brandy gave Charles a hug. She wrapped her arms around his neck so tightly, Charles almost couldn't breathe. "Okay!" Brandy finally let go. "Sorry." Charles started to cough.
Charles and Brandy had no idea during the hug that Kwame was watching them through the front window of the house. He hated what he saw. In his mind he uttered the words "This dude!" Kwame sucked his teeth and shook his head. A car horn started to blow. It was coming from Charles's Escalade. Lavell was blowing the horn while sitting in Charles's truck. He was antsy and ready to leave. Lavell rolled the windows down. "Chuck! C'mon man!" "Alright!" Brandy kept smiling. "Thank you!" Brandy shook hands again with Charles. "No problem." Brandy ran with excitement back into the house. Charles made his way to his truck. "Finally! What took you so long?" Lavell asked with impatience. "Li'l Man, you know I have to chop it up with the fans." Lavell shook his head and rolled his eyes.
Charles and Lavell took off. On the way to the outing, Lavell put in one of his favorite hip hop cds in Charles's car stereo. Lavell had the volume up so loud, he couldn't hear the conversation Charles was trying to have with him.
"That Brandy is a nice girl!" "What!?" Charles turned the music down. "I said that Brandy is a nice girl." Lavell shrugged his shoulders. "I guess." "You ever thought 'bout goin' out with her? I mean she's only one year older than you." Lavell quickly shook his head. "No way!" Charles had a slight smile on his face. "What's wrong with Brandy? Don't you think she's a cute girl?" "She aight! But she's not really my type. Plus she's Kwame's sister." Charles looked at Lavell with eyebrows raised. "You gotta type?" "Yeah....you know that fine honey from your video for the song "Lovers and Haters". Charles nodded. "Crystal! The one with the green eyes." Lavell nodded. "Yeah her....she got it goin' on!"
Charles just chuckled. "That's a grown ass woman!" "So....I can be the man she needs." Charles shook his head. "Li'l Man, cool it!" "Nah, I'm serious!" "Li'l Man, you still young. You have a lot to learn about women." Lavell turned the music back up.
Charles and Lavell made their way to the venue. It was a place with an arcade, miniature golf and bumper boats. After spending the majority of the day at the fun center, the two would leave and get a bite to eat. After they were done chowing down, Charles took Lavell home. Charles pulled up to Lavell's house. "Alright Li'l Man! Be good." "Kay!" Charles and Lavell dapped and hugged before Lavell exited Charles's truck.
