A few days had passed since Savannah's birthday. Savannah still really wouldn't come out of her room unless it was to use the bathroom or find something to eat in the kitchen. She wasn't listening to sad love songs as much like before. Now she was watching old drama filled movies on the tv in her room. Savannah had seen the movies so many times, she would mouth off the lines. The only person in the house with Savannah at the time was her mother Azucena.
Azucena was still worried and concerned about her daughter. Azucena was getting ready to go to the store, when the doorbell would ring. She would walk up to the front door and look through the peephole. Azucena saw it was Charles standing there. In her mind, she would utter the words "Are you serious right now!?"
Azucena opened the door. She would sigh out of frustration as she looked Charles in the eye. "You have some nerve showing up here!" Charles nodded. "I know. But I was really hoping that I could talk to Savannah." Azucena shook her head. "I don't know. It's because of you I can't get her to come out of her room. Better yet, the house itself." "Please, Mrs. George! Let me talk to her." Azucena thought for a second. She decided to let him in. "Okay, fine. You can talk to her. Let me go see if she wants to talk to you."
Azucena let Charles in the house. She walked to Savannah's room and knocked on the door. "Savannah! Someone's here to see you." "Mom, who is it!?" Savannah's door would open. Charles stood in the doorway. Savannah would look at Charles. A flood of emotions would run through her. Savannah started breathing heavily. "Look, I know that I'm the last person that you wanna see right now. But we gotta talk Savannah." Savannah looked straight ahead, not making eye contact with Charles. "Well let's hear it. Talk!"
Charles sat down on the bed next to Savannah. At the time, Savannah would feel uncomfortable. She tried to scoot away from Charles. "Savannah, we had problems. You know that and I know that. When I was on that tour, I really needed you there. I would call and you wouldn't answer." Savannah became enraged. "I was at school! I couldn't answer!" Charles would stand up and walk to the bedroom window. "And that was the problem. You were always at school. You always had your head in a book. When I wanted us to hangout, you couldn't." Savannah looked down in thought. "So you decided to solve your loneliness by hooking up with Lauryce?" "It ain't like that, Savannah!" "Then what is it Charles!? Huh? What is it!?" "Ryce and I, well, It just happened."
Savannah followed Charles around the room with her eyes. "Ryce was there for me. She would listen to everything that I had to say. I started looking at her differently." Savannah looked down and tears started to stream down her face. "So you were attracted to her?" "I guess so, Savannah." "So I'm guessing the pregnancy wasn't planned?" Charles shook his head. "No, It wasn't Savannah." Savannah nodded rapidly. "You know I used to think about us getting married and having kids together. I would often imagine what our kids would look like." Charles nodded while looking down. "Well....I guess that won't be happening. Will it, Charles?"
Charles fiddled around with the things that were sitting on top of Savannah's dresser. "Savannah, I didn't tell you this. You know the time when I went to Chicago to be on Oprah." Savannah nodded. "Well Lauryce and I almost kissed." Savannah sighed. "Oh really?" "Yeah." "What stopped you?" "All I could think about was you." Savannah looked down. "Savannah, I'll always have love for you. But I'm not in love with you." Savannah looked ahead at her window while still sitting on her bed. "Are you in love with Lauryce?" Charles shook his head. "I don't know. Ryce is having my child. It's different."
Savannah exhaled her breath. "So it's over?" "I guess so, Savannah." Savannah took off the necklace that Charles had given her earlier in the year. Charles walked over to Savannah. "Here!" Savannah had her hand out holding the necklace. Charles shook his head. "Nah, you keep it." Savannah shook her head. "Please take this! I don't want it." Charles sighed and took the necklace. "Thank you." "So I guess this is goodbye, huh Savannah?" "I guess so." Charles leaned into Savannah's face to try and kiss her on the cheek. But Savannah would move away. Charles would smirk after being dissed. He would walk out of Savannah's room. Charles walked out of the front door and was out of Savannah's life for good this time. Savannah, still sitting on her bed, would sob with both hands up to her face.
As the days would go by, It became the month of July. July 4th weekend to be exact. It was a Saturday, the day after the 4th. Savannah woke up that morning feeling so much better than previous days before. She decided to get a box and put everything that Charles had ever given her in it. After Savannah was done, she took the box out to the trash can that was in the back of the house. Savannah would open the lid and put the box in the trash can. After closing the trash can lid, Savannah would exhale while closing her eyes. The relief of the weight off her shoulders would have Savannah feeling so much lighter and pleasant.
Savannah headed back in the house. She went back to her room. Savannah decided to give Chafonda a call. "Hello!" "Hey Chafonda!" "Wassup girl? Feelin' any better today?" "Actually that's what I called to talk to you about. I am ready to get out of this house and go out tonight." "Really girl?" "Uh-huh." "Now that's what I like to hear! Girl, we gon' hit that new spot that just opened." "I heard about that place. But there's one problem." "What's that?" "Now that I'm no longer dating Charles, I can't get into the clubs anymore. You know I'm underage." "Hmm....you need a fake I.D, don't cha?" "Maybe?" "I think I know someone who could help with that." "Who?" "Brad." "Who's Brad?" "Dadrian's roommate....If anyone looks like they could get fake I.Ds, It's definitely him. He just looks shady."
