"Y/n. Wake up it's time for the first test." A man said shaking me awake.

I jumped out the bed and pulled on some clothes. They were dirty.

The man led me to a hospital room, there were machines and syringes everywhere.

"Ah y/n you're here. Lay down here on the table please." A women with light ginger hair and bright red lipstick said.

I laid down and she picked up a massive syringe. It almost seemed like an every day thing.

"This might hurt just relax"

She pushed the point into my arm and it was the most excruciating pain. She was right, it would hurt.

I sat upright, screaming. I looked around and I was still in my room in the glade. Gally came running in, confused.

"Greenie are you okay? I heard you scream." He walked over to me slowly and sat on the bed next to me.

I was sweating and my hands were slightly shaky.

"I had a nightmare. And I can remember my name." I stuttered out.

"What is it?" He asked pulling me into a hug.

A few hours ago, he was calling me an idiot. Weird.

"Y/n." I mumbled into his chest. Hi heartbeat, calming me down a bit.

"That's a beautiful name. It breakfast time now so let's try and forget about your nightmare and eat some of fry's food. Come on." He stands up waits for me to join him.

"Breakfast, already? Oh, urm, I need to change." I laughed.

"Oh yeah, sorry I'll go." He goes to walk out but I grab his hand.

"Just wait outside." I say softly.

I got changed. I just pulled in the same outfit as yesterday. It stunk, but there wasn't anywhere to wash it.

"Kay, let's go." I said walking past him and to where everyone was having breakfast.

Gally walked away and sat with some of his friends while I sat with Newt and fry.

"Did you have fun?" Newt nudged me with a smirk on his face.

"What do you mean?" I laughed awkwardly.

"You and Gally. You both came out your room together..." Fry moved his eyebrows up and down.

"Oh my god, no. Gally, just came to wake me up." I said, not wanting them to know that I had a nightmare. They're didn't voice me.

"Guys I'm serious!" I shouted sternly.

"Ok, ok, we believe you greenie. But it's obvious gally likes you. Like the way he looks at you just proves it." Newt says.

"I've known him for a day. A day. I don't even know him that well."

I turned around and look at gally, he was staring at me.

"Well, non of us have seen a girl in long time, and if we have then we can't remember it. I'm not surprised that he's caught feelings so quick." Fry mumbled with a mouth full of food.

"Well, I don't like him."

"Ouch!" Newt hissed.

"Guys, I know my name." I tried to change the subject.

"So what is it?" They said in unison.

"Y/n. It came to me in a dream. That sounds so dumb but yeah."

"It's fine. It came to me in a dream." Frypan reassured me.

"The name frypan came to you in a dream?" I asked laughing slightly.

"Haha no. I wish, but my actual names Siggy but when I started cooking everyone just called me Frypan so I stuck with it"

"Anyway guys it's time for jobs come on." Newt said standing up.

"What's my job?" I asked standing up with him.

"I- erm I don't know..ask Alby." Newt said before limping off to the gardens.

"Real good second in command" I mumbled to myself.

I did what Newt said and went to talk to Alby who was with Gally.

"Hey Alby."

"Hey greenie, or should I say y/n. Gally told me." He smiled.

"Newt told me to come to you about what job I should do." I told him.

"Come to the meeting room and we can talk. Gally tell the keepers to come so we can have a joint discussion." Alby instructed

Gally nodded and ran off. Alby and I walked to the meeting room. A few minutes later the keepers ran in. Gally behind them.

"So y/n doesn't have a job and we need to decide." Alby announced.

"Y/n?" Some of the boys looked at each other puzzled.

"That's me dingbats.. I know my name now." I pointed at myself.

"Ohhh" the boys said making me roll my eyes at their stupidity.

Minho speaks up first. "What about a runner? We could do with another. Obviously we would have to test her first but you know."

"I don't think that's a good-" Gally started to say.

"That is really a good idea." Alby cut him off and nodded. "Right,  Minho, take y/n outside to race and test her. We will come and watch."

A race?

We all walked outside. Alby talked to the other gladers and they also came to watch. It felt like primary school sports day all over again.
