Author's note: if by any chance this story is similar to any other story out there, I just want you to know that I didn't mean to. This idea came from my head and of course I got inspired by some other books and movies. I did not copy anyone's ideas though. I just wanted to get that out there.

And if someone wants to use some of my ideas, please contact me first, thank you.

P.D. sorry for any grammar mistakes, my first language is NOT English, but I'm trying to get better at it.

Kaia's POV

Hi there, my name is Kaia and I'm 20 years old. Kaia stands for ocean, the sea, which makes sense because my family and I are from Hawaii and it is surrounded by the ocean. However, I never imagined how much I would've ended up loving it.

Today is a normal day. I was with my board and walking down the beach ready to surf.

It's been a while, however, that I've been here. It feels finally like home after so long.

Let me tell you why.

My little brother died 4 months ago. His name was Finn and let's say that my family has taken it very hard, which is obviously normal, I'm not saying it's a bad thing, but for me, the best way of moving forward, is doing what I love the most.

Surfing.

When I can finally catch a wave I feel free, like I'm flying and the best part are the little drops of water falling all over me. The wind in my hair. The blue sky reflecting the ocean.

It's the best feeling.

My family was very angry with me because they don't understand how I grief. I've been wanting to come here since I first heard the news, partially because I used to do this with him and because it would've taken my thoughts away from everything.

I always try to avoid feeling sad, I just hate the feeling.

Without a second thought, I went into the water and began to paddle.

Today there were lots of waves so it is a perfect day to surf indeed.

As soon as I was ready to catch a wave, I heard someone yell "SHARK!"

It was totally unexpected for me. So many people that were surfing around me, began to evacuate the ocean.

Everyone began to evacuate the beach in general, since the lifeguards were saying that they had to leave.

Thinking that it might be just someone overdramatic and that probably the shark was far away, I decided to still catch the wave. And ignored it.

I won't let anyone take this feeling from me.

As I was on the board, feeling the happiness take over me, I open my eyes and saw the lifeguards and many people watching me. I could tell that their expressions were one of afraid.

"DON'T GET DOWN, KEEP GOING!" A lifeguard yelled. I don't know how I was able to hear her, but I did. At the beginning I didn't understand why she said that with an anxious yell, but then I decided to look behind me, since everyone else was looking behind me, and there it was.

The shark was right behind me, catching up to me.

My heart began to race.

Why did I ignored them? Shit.

I closed my eyes again, feeling like I was losing my balance from the racing in my heart and my legs trembling.

I wasn't able to look at how big the shark was, but I just didn't want to look back again.

I felt my board being snatched from my body, and since my leg was attached to the string that was coming from the board, I felt myself losing complete balance and going under water.

Opening my eyes under the water, I saw that the shark has my board on his mouth.

I felt myself losing air from my body because of my anxiousness.

Trying to calm myself down, which was impossible, just made me take a deep inhale and completely swallow sea water. That made it go to my lungs and I felt myself losing hope.

The shark was able to bite my leg, but then something stoped him from eating my whole leg.

Since I was losing so much blood and the ocean water was now in my lungs, I wasn't able to stay with my eyes open.

"I have to stay with my eyes open."

I said in my head, but it was no use.

And then everything went blank.

Louis' POV

I was watching from the shore as everyone else was, how this girl was coming from the direction that the shark was, probably unaware of the situation.

The lifeguards were telling her to keep going, since the shark was right behind her and the wave was saving her life.

If she made it to shore before the shark, then she will live.

"She has to make it, right?" Zayn asks.

Everyone was in complete silence, watching how the girl looked back and saw the shark, now aware of the situation she was in.

I saw her close her eyes, trying to ignore the feeling, but sadly, knowing what was happening did not help her at all.

I knew what was going to happen, everyone should've of seen what was going to happen, at least the lifeguards should've of known.

But no one moved.

Except for me.

I'm not going to stand here and let her die.

I may not know her, but I won't let her die on my watch.

Nor anyone else for that matter.

Without thinking twice about it, I took off my shirt and pant and was left in my boxers, thinking that it was easier to swim that way.

When my friends noticed what I was doing, they immediately tried to stop me.

But I was able to make my way through them and through the stupid lifeguards and made my way under water.

Before going into the water, I saw the girl falling down, everyone frightened and that made me believe that I was doing the right thing.

I need to safe this girl.
