What just happened? (Completed)

Chapter 10. I need your help.

Kaia's POV 

Today is my doctor's appointment to see if I have made any progress about my legs. 

Hopefully I'll be able to stand up. 

Honestly I'm so nervous. I really don't know how to feel, if I should even feel confident or not. I don't want to give myself hope. 

Aiden was coming with me to the doctor's appointment since Louis was busy with his studies. 

We were waiting in the hospital waiting area, and I just really hope that it's good news. 

"It's going to be okay." Aiden said as he put his hand on my leg, that was actually bouncing up and down. I haven't even noticed that I was doing that until he stoped it, and I saw his hand moving to my leg from the corner of my eye. 

"Kaia?" I look up and saw the doctor. "Come on in!" 

He was so cheerful. Hopefully this is all leading to good news. 

"How are you?" He asks as he sat down in front of me. 

"I'm feeling okay." I said. 

"Has your leg hurt?" 

"Not recently. But I haven't felt it that much either." 

"Mmmm. Have you tried to stand up?" I shook my head and now he knew I was nervous. "Okay, let's try it." 

He took my hands and I looked up at him, not knowing if I was going to be able to do it or not. 

"You can do this." Aiden said behind me. 

I took a deep breath and closed my eyes. 

I can do it. 

"You are doing it!" I suddenly heard my doctor say as now I opened my eyes and saw that I was actually standing. 

But I couldn't feel my legs. 

"I don't know how I'm doing it." I said as I was actually freaking out. I can't feel them. 

"Why? I don't understand." My doctor said. 

"I- I can't feel them." I said and look down at my legs. 

"Okay, maybe we should do some test first yeah?" 

I nodded and sat back down. My heart is racing and I really don't want to do this. 

I have a bad feeling now. 

*Meanwhile* 

Louis' POV 

No one know that I'm actually at the hospital right now but with my mom. I'm hoping that I won't run into Aiden and Kaia since I know that they are here at Kaia's appointment. 

It killed me to know that it was the same day as my mom's first ever chemo and I wouldn't be able to be there for Kaia, since I know that she would've of wanted me there. 

And the fact that I've been lying to here isn't helping me feel any better either. 

I did told Niall because well... he already know. He's the only one I can really talk to about this and I couldn't thank him enough. 

I wish he was here with me, but he was busy and couldn't make it. 

This is going to be so hard.

Thankfully we were able to make it home and we didn't see Kaia or Aiden anywhere near us. My mom is kind of like me, we don't want anyone to know about this yet. Not even my sisters know. 

But maybe today will be the day that we have to tell them since we know that chemo isn't going to be easy and it is going to be more noticeable. 

I don't know how my sisters are going to react, but I hope they are going to be strong about this. 

I had to help mom since she's pretty weak right now. 

The girls are coming home at 3pm, it's now 12pm so she has time to rest before they come home. 

"Sleep mom, you need it." She nodded as I helped her lie down in her bed and put the covers over her. 

"Thank you sweetie." She said as she closed her eyes without thinking twice about it. 

She must be very very tired. 

I didn't asks her how it went, because I know she needs time. 

I sat down beside her bed, just looking at her and admiring her. 

She's truly the best. 

My phone began to ring and I saw it was Kaia. 

"Hey." I said as I answered it and went outside my mom's room so I wouldn't wake her up. 

"Hi. Um, we have a bit of a situation." It wasn't actually Kaia, it was Aiden. Oh no. 

"What? What happened?" 

I can't leave my mom alone, even though she's asleep, I can't leave her alone. 

"Kaia fainted, because they have to do another operation on her leg. They are taking her in even though she just fainted." 

"What? Is that even legal?" The fuck? Why do they have to do another operation? Didn't they do one when I saved her? 

"They said that they were going to put her to sleep immediately, which would mean that she won't wake up until it's over." 

"But why are they giving her an operation?" 

"She couldn't feel her legs and the doctor said it was something about the nervous system, I don't know. Just come over." 

"Aiden I can't." I look at my mom, since I left the door a bit open so I was able to see her. 

"Please, I'm worried." He said. "You are just studying right? Can't you just say that you need to go? That's an emergency?" 

Fuck. 

"Okay, I'll go." 

Now I have to call Niall. 

Hopefully he's done with whatever he's doing and can come over to watch my mom. 

"Niall?" I asks as he answered my call and I was already at my car. 

"Hey Lou, how did it go?" 

"It was okay, but I need your help."
