Promises Fulfilled

I meet up with Luna next to the Black Lake the next day and she's barefoot.

"Where are your shoes?"

"I don't know. You know what my mother always said though: lost things always have a way of coming back to us if not always in the way you expect."

"Yeah, I know." I say, giving her a tight smile. My eyes search the people on the grounds and find Chang with Cedric. She looks passed him and smirks at me. I glare at her for a second before turning back to my friend.

That night I jump into the seat next to Cedric making him laugh.

"What has you in such a good mood?"

"I have a target. I hate not knowing who to prank."

"That's going to come back to bite you one day." Cedric warns.

"Oh this totally could. Which is why I'm here. I warned your little bitch about bullying Luna. She's now without shoes until we manage to find them in this giant school and the smug look she threw me when I found out told me it was her. She's screwed." I say and he groans.

"Please don't, Mya. Can't you be the bigger person in all this?"

"And risk my reputation being hurt? Not a chance. Not to mention she's bullying one of my best friends. What if this was happening to me?" I ask. He sighs and nods his head.

"I'd ruin them." He concedes.

"You can keep her and do whatever you want with her, but I'm warning you right now she's going to make you choose soon."

"She said she wouldn't do that."

"Then. She didn't say she wouldn't later." I correct.

"You were listening?" He asks, blushing.

"Yep! I needed the books on the other side of the shelf. Not my fault you two can't whisper well. Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go make her life hell and look into permanent shoes for Luna." I say, standing up.

"Madam Malkin's has some that can be changed with just a tap of the wand into the shoe of your choice, but they're pricey." Cedric tells me. I kiss his cheek in thanks and leave the common room.

The next day I catch Teddy before he reaches the Great Hall, jumping onto his back.

"Hey, Spider Monkey." He says with a laugh.

"I need your help."

"With what?" He asks, setting me down.

"An alibi and freakishly expensive shoe shopping."

"I can help with the first but the second is a girl thing."

"Shoes that permanently stay on someone's feet and can change to a shoe of your choice." I say and he nods his head.

"Those I can help with." He says. I beam up at him, making him smile. "What has you in such a good mood today?"

"Wait for it." I say. A minute later there's a screech at Chang is introduced to her newest look curtesy of Mya Potter in the middle of the Great Hall. "I warned her."

"You were studying with me all night in the library and then I walked you to your common room." He says quickly, eyes wide.

"You're amazing." I say happily.

"You bitch!" Chang says, storming up to me.

"Thank you...why am I bitch?"

"Look what you did to me!" She demands.

"I don't know what you're talking about, but you may want to go to Madame Pomphrey to get that checked out." I say. She lets out a cry of anger and storms out of the Great Hall.

"Will Madame Pomphrey be able to get that off?" Teddy whispers to me.

"Nope. It'll wear off eventually...I think." I say and he laughs, wrapping an arm around my shoulders. Harry materializes out of nowhere and pulls me away from him. I raise my eyebrows at him.

"Did you do that?" He asks.

"Of course not. I would never harm another student." I say and he eyes me. "By the way, Luna needs permanent shoes."

"Mya." He says with a sigh of defeat.

"I was studying with Teddy all night before going to the common room where I hung out with the other third years after a nice conversation with Cedric." I say. He narrows his eyes but leaves it.

"A lovely airtight alibi, Miss Potter." Dumbledore says, walking up.

"Thank you?" I say in confusion.

"Off to breakfast with you three." He says. I pull Harry aside as Teddy goes to the Slytherin table.

"And you. If I want a boyfriend I will have a boyfriend. If you interfere with me having a boyfriend you will have a very hard time reproducing. You may have revenge on said guy if he hurts me. Until such time, trust my judgement. Please?"

"I just don't want you hurt."

"That's part of life though. And I don't even think of Teddy like that." I say and he sighs in defeat.

"Fine!" He gives. I hug him around the middle tightly. "You're lucky I love you."

"And that you have a thing for my best friend."

"Wha-bu-um-how did you know?"

"Luna has the gift of Sight and Knowledge, remember?" I say and he blushes. "She's willing to wait until next year when you two can go on a proper date to Hogsmeade, but she doesn't share. Like, at all, so I wouldn't pursue anyone else until then."

"Thanks for the heads up." He says. I smile at him and then go to the Hufflepuff table where I receive several back slaps and high-fives for Chang's revenge.

The boils on Cho's face take two weeks to fade but the scars from when she tried to pop them are stuck there. Whoops.
