The next day I dress in my old jeans, grey tank top under a plum colored button up, and my black sneakers. Talia helps me braid my hair out of my way and we get to breakfast early. There are fifty other students who are there earlier than they want to be, all dressed for work.
"How come the Weasley twins aren't here?" A sixth year Hufflepuff asks.
"They've always gotten caught. How they do it is never know but they know who it is. That and every single person in this room is planning to ruin them." I say, stabbing my fruit viscously.
"If everyone will follow me." Dumbledore says, standing.
"Harry, what are you doing here?" I ask when we reach the second floor girls' bathroom and Harry is waiting there.
"Can you speak parseltongue?"
"No. Which is weird because we're twins." I say, finishing thoughtfully.
"Well I don't know why, but I'm your key in." Harry says, leading the way in. He stands in front of the sink that's never worked but is interrupted before we can start.
"Harry! You're back. Why are all these other people here?" Moaning Myrtle says. I look at my brother expectantly.
"I'm getting them into the Chamber, Myrtle."
"Oh. Why haven't you visited me?" Myrtle asks. Anna Jackson-one of the Slytherins-huffs, grabs the broken faucet head, and throws it through the ghost's head. She start starts screaming and dives into the toilet.
"Fifty points." I commend.
"Miss Potter."
"She was one, slowing us down and two, harassing my brother."
"Harry, if you please." Dumbledore says.
"Sure. He's Harry and you're Miss Potter." Brooks grumbles to me. I roll my eyes, shake my head, and shrug.
"Um, it's a slide from here onto a bed of small animal bones. You're going to need me one more time." Harry says before jumping in. I salute the other students, put one step out, and allow my balance to be off.
"DRAMA QUEEN!" I hear someone bellow after me. I'm too busy laughing at the feeling the slide is giving me to think on it.
Once I come out of the slide. I look around and pale. It's just big enough for fifty-two students and a couple professors if we're on each other's feet. It's my worse nightmare. Harry pulls me next to a wall of fallen rock to hide me so I have a bit more room than the others. Luckily Dumbledore comes mid-group, sees how small the space is and gets to work on the wall so we're not so cramped.
"Whoa." A Ravenclaw girl says, seeing the Basilisk skin.
"I believe the Gryffindors and Slytherins can get along well enough to take care of this skin while the Hufflepuffs and Ravenclaws take care of the main chamber." Dumbledore says. I share a horrified look with Talia at that. Cedric puts his hands on my shoulders and steers me towards the next door. Dumbledore waves his wand and we all end up having our own bubble head charms on. "I have heard decay doesn't smell the best."
"Thank you, professor." Chang says.
"Kiss ass." Talia, Brooks, Jacob, and I say in unison. Cedric's hands tighten on my shoulders.
"We're in enough trouble." He mutters in my ear. I huff but don't retort.
Harry opens the Chamber and it hisses open slowly.
"Professors." Dumbledore says before he and Professors Flitwick, Lupin, and Snape come forward to make sure it's safe to descend. It's another ten minutes before we get a call from any professor and the sound of the Slytherins and Gryffindors arguing but still working is very clear.
