The Third Task

There is heartbreak within the Triwizard Tournament. Triwizard Champions Cedric Diggory and Mya Potter have been in a long term relation ship since the beginning of Mya Potter's third year, Cedric Diggory's fifth year. Now with both competing in the tournament it seems things are getting rocky and Miss Potter may be having second thoughts.

It is well known that Mya Potter and her twin brother Harry Potter, otherwise known as the Twins Who Lived and heroes of the wizarding world, may be targeted by You-Know-Who's remaining followers. Mya seems to have been brutally remined of this with her being entered to compete in the Triwizard Tournament. She has been known to tell her long term boyfriend to not put her first so as to save him the heartbreak should someone succeed in their assassination attempt.

This reporter can't help but be confused at this. Mya Potter is currently in first place in the Tournament due to her excellent performance in both the first and second tasks against a dragon and Grindylows and mermaids respectively, so it is thought to be highly unlikely that an assassination attempt could succeed. Perhaps Miss Potter is looking for the easiest excuse to break up with the swoon worth Hufflepuff Champion.

"Ex-fucking-scuse me." I say, looking at the article in the magazine Natalie gives me.

"How does she even know that?" Brooks demands, reading over my shoulder.

"I'm trying to protect him not break up with him!" I say angrily.

"I don't know, but I'd be careful opening your mail from now on. People can be vicious."

"Thanks, Natalie." I say with a sigh of defeat.

The mail from readers becomes atrocious and I just burn the lot of it without reading any of it, starting with the Howlers before they can get a word out. I don't want to hear it. Of course Amos Diggory's Howler telling me I'm a horrible person and he's always known I would hurt his Ceddy was given to me while I was relaxing in the common room with his 'Ceddy' and I couldn't get to my wand fast enough. It's highly annoying but it eventually dies down.

On the last week of May Professor McGonagall comes to the Hufflepuff table.

"Potter, Diggory?" She says and we both turn to look at her. "You are to go down to the Quidditch pitch at nine tonight. Mr. Bagman will be there to tell the champions about the third task."

"Yes, ma'am." I say and she walks away. "Man-child. He takes joy in our suffering." I say to Natalie and Talia.

"We've noticed." They say in unison.

At nine that night Cedric and I walk to the Quidditch pitch together.

"What do you think it's going to be? Fleur keeps going on about underground tunnels; she reckons we've got to find treasure." I say, shaking my head as I break the silence.

"That wouldn't be too bad." Cedric says. When we walk onto the pitch we both freeze in horror. "What did they do to it?"

The pitch is no longer smooth and flat. It looks as though someone has been building long, large, confusing walls all over it.

"They're hedges." Cedric says, bending to examine them.

"They're ruining the pitch is what they are." I say indignantly.

"Hello there!" Bagman calls to us. Cedric and I make our way over to Bagman, climbing over hedges. "Well, what do you think? Growing nicely aren't they? Give them a month and Hagrid will have them twenty feet high. Don't worry," Bagman says, seeing the more than less than happy looks on Cedric's and my faces, "you'll have your Quidditch pitch back to normal once the task is over! Now, I imagine you can guess what we're making here?"
