Billy Black was happily watching a football game with the pack, their mates, and of course Sue and Charlie. The boys were all shouting at the television and laughing, Billy smiling at the sight, when his phone rang. He wheeled over to answer.
"Hello?"
"Dad..."
He didn't like the tone in his son's voice. "What's the matter, son?" he whispered, glancing at his long-time best friend to make sure he wasn't looking over.
"She's gone, dad." He said, sounding tired. "Bella, Alice and Edward took the Volturi's mate and her child. They planned to kill them both... Bella... she... she wasn't the same. She sounded so... evil. She sounded like how she made the Volturi sound."
Billy made eye contact with Sam, who nodded subtly, the other wolves around making it seem like nothing was wrong. Charlie was still happily watching the game. "What do you want to do?"
"I don't know. We still have to come up with something but... Edward bit the queen and now she's in transition. Carlisle is there to make sure she makes it through it. Edward is in literal pieces under the castle."
"And the others?"
"Bella and the others were dismembered and burned. There's nothing left. I made sure of it..."
"I can give you a couple days. Say Bella went to meet you guys in Italy with Renesme." Thankfully Seth kept Charlie distracted enough and gave him more beer. "That'll give you time to come up with something." He added. "Are you alright?"
Jacob was silent for a minute. "My feeling for Bella disappeared the moment Renesme was born." He said, his voice faltering for a brief moment. "I'm just worried about Charlie."
"He's got all of us. It will hurt, but with everyone by his side, he'll be okay. Eventually."
"I know. Keep an eye on him. We'll be back by the end of the week."
"You got it, son. Take care."
"You too, pops."
Billy hung up the phone, pinching the bridge of his nose in exasperation. He looked at his dear friend, before putting on a smile and wheeling back over to the group.
"Jacob checking in?" Charlie asked, taking another sip.
"Yup." He chuckled. "He said Bella and Edward joined them in Italy. Carlisle has some family up there as well. They're probably going to stay there for a couple weeks then come home."
"Italy? Man, she's been all over the world practically now." Charlie laughed. "She's never going to want to come home at this rate!"
"You have no idea old friend." Billy thought, bitterly.
At the castle, hours turned into days. Three days of hearing her agonizing screams. Tours of the castle were temporarily discontinued due to the screams, and because the kings refused to leave their mate's side. Young Alexander was taken to the other side of the castle to spare him from hearing his mother in agony. They told him his mommy was sick and would feel better soon. He had Lisa and Alec and Jane around him all the time, so he wasn't to worried about it.
On the third day, the kingdom went silent. No screams. And down one heartbeat. The kings looked to their mate, trying not to show their agony as well. The bond was severed, completely gone. Now all they could do was wait. And wait.
And wait.
"Why is it taking so long for her to wake, brother?" Caius hissed to his brother, who looked forlorn.
"The venom works on everyone differently." He hissed back, glaring at the snow haired king.
The two began to argue as Marcus kept his gaze on his mate. Suddenly, he felt his dead heart leap in his chest. Gold began to wrap itself around his mate, his brothers to engrossed in their arguing to notice their mate was about to awaken. The eldest kings went up to his mate, and gently stroked her cheek.
"Come back to us, my love." He whispered.
Aro and Caius heard their brother and sped to their mates bed side. The guards, and the Olympic coven, all went ridged. Waiting. Just then her eyes sprung open, shocking all the vampires around them.
"My... kings?" her voice was hoarse.
She was disoriented. Her head foggy. Confused she looked around the room, not noticing the shocked faces around her as her vision that was once black, became sharp. Her eyes landed on one of the brothers, Marcus, by the scent of his cologne.
"What happened?"
"My dear, do you not remember?" Aro asked, carefully.
"R-Remember..." it was then she started to remember things. "A-Alexander! Where-"
"He's fine, my love. Calm down." Caius soothed. "He is safe."
"W-Why can I... see?"
"My dear, we are so sorry. When we went to rescue you... we couldn't stop him from... biting you." The three kings hung their heads in shame.
"Not your fault." She said softly, trying her best to comfort them. "You saved me."
"My queen, I apologize for the interruption." Carlisle had to break the ice.
Said vampire turned to the man she never met before, a kind smile on her face. "Yes?"
"Are you... thirsty?"
It took her a moment to realize what he meant. Thirsty?
"Yes. May I have some water please?"
"M-My queen?"
Now she noticed the strange looks from everyone around her. "What?" she asked with a tilt of her head.
"I don't think you're a full vampire, my queen." He said, astonished. "I think you're a... hybrid."
"How is that possible?"
"I think I may have the answers, little red."
How was this possible?
