I'm glad my luck didn't affect the battle. I thought.
The angel boy came back without being burnt to death by the lightning girl. He seemed cheerful about his victory, as well. When Lady Palutena entertained the idea of pizza to celebrate, I could see why.
"They have pizza in Skyworld?" I questioned as we all stood in the infirmary, where Pit had one of the angel men (called centurions), patched up the last of his bruises and scars before taking his leave.
"Yeah, but it usually gets cold by the time it gets to Skyworld because it shipped through different domains before it gets here," Lady Palutena said as she handed him a red lollypop. "We just heat it back up."
"Huh," I nodded, confused as ever. "This didn't seem like the place for an angel pizza delivery service, but that's not the weirdest thing I have seen all day."
"What is the weirdest thing you have seen so far?" Pit asked.
"That lightning girl flirting and trying to kill you at the same time was pretty weird," I said as his curiosity visibly deflated.
"I think that's just standard protocol around here," Lady Palutena laughed, before turning to leave. "I'll go order that pizza now. Pit, when you're feeling a little better, would you show (Y/n) around?"
"Right," he replied as she closed the infirmary door.
I looked to him. "I can't believe you survived a goddess trying to kill you with lightning. How did you do it?"
"You would be surprised how average that is for me, but I guess it would seem impossible to a human," he deduced. "I get so embarrassed when Lady Palutena brags about her human knowledge. I feel so dumb."
"Really, it's nothing that important to know about when you live up here," I smiled, hoping it would make him feel better.
"Thanks..." he said before trailing off, staring straight ahead before shifting his gaze back to me. The tension was a little heavy. "Hey, when I saw you running away earlier... you called me by a name I think."
"Oh that?" I tried to make up an excuse, but I guess it wasn't really a lie. "You sounded like someone I knew, but clearly you are not him."
"Oh, who is that?"
"Just..." I racked my brain for a story to make up in place of 'my crush who is dead.' "Just a friend of mine, but we don't talk anymore."
"Oh!" Pit covered his mouth, eyes wide with realization. "Did he live in your town? I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to make you talk about him! Here, would you like a lollypop too?!"
His manic apologies were overwhelming, but it made me realize something I can't believe I didn't notice before. If Pit thought he died from the reset bomb, so did everyone else. It took everything in me to let out the words, but I needed to know. "Pit, is everyone else dead too?"
"I wasn't supposed to say anything," he paused. "I'm so sorry, (Y/n). It was my fault. If only I got there sooner-"
"Don't worry about it," I cut him off. "Thank you for saving me. I thought I was going to die twice."
"It's only a hero's duty," he gave me a close-eyed smile, as I unwrapped the lollypop's plastic wrapping. "How about I show you around."
So off we went, exploring Lady Palutena's temple as Pit led my path. "Oh, you should see the library we have. It's huge!"
He took a right down the next pillar-lined hall and walked to the large double doors at the end. Looking around in amazement, I wandered into the mythology section and picked up a random book.
