Promise Me

'Are you awake?' I was sitting on Pandora's doorstep the night before the war when I heard a voice in my head. It was the Dark Pit. 'I need to talk to you.'

'I haven't been able to sleep,' I stated, letting him know I was up I didn't really feel like talking to him and I was sure that he didn't want to talk to me. So, why was he here? 'I don't even know what time it is because of the way Pandora organizes her dimension.'

'Oh, and I thought I was holding grudges against you,' I tried looking around for him.' But, I need to talk to you in person.'

That's when I saw him sitting on a floating platform a little way away from the house. His red eyes could be seen for miles.

'Are you here to interrogate me on more war plans?' I asked.

     'No,' he said bluntly.

'Are you here to make sure I stay out of your way tomorrow?' I asked something different.

     'No,' he said bluntly again.

'Are you here to re-establish that you don't care?' I rolled my eyes, for that would have been a fun topic (for me) if I didn't want to be left alone.

'Heck no, I am done with you and Viridi and how "I don't care",' Dark Pit sighed.

'Do you care or not? Make up your mind,' I looked at the ground.

'That's what I needed to talk about...,' he trailed off and started flying my way. What on Earth did he mean by that?

"So, you finally decided to come over and talk," I stated as I looked over the chaos of the dimension. "What do you need to say?"

"I need you to say that you will stop lying to me. The fact that you could have another card up your sleeve is concerning. No one needs another plot twist," Dark Pit said strongly. "So, if you're hiding anything else, this would be a great time to come clean."

     "I don't have anything else," I admitted.

"Then don't get hurt tomorrow. This was your plan and everyone needs you alive to let your bad luck help us," Dark Pit narrowed his eyes as I looked over at him. I looked away again as our eyes met because I didn't even feel like looking at him. Nor did I want to speak to him and his impossible request. It wasn't an option to get injured in a war of all places, especially if I had bad luck. I could see Dark Pit's face get angry with hurt, and the silence I drew out made him snap. "Answer ME!"

He pulled me up by my collar and slammed me to the wall of the house with his hands blocking either side. His eyes seemed redder than normal, unless I was imagining it. The back of my skull could feel the vibration, giving me a migraine. When he was mad, he was horrifying, like a serial killer coming for me in a horror movie. If he needed me, then why was he treating me like a target to assassinate? Why did I want to run as much as I wanted to stand up to him? "D-dark Pit?"

"I'm not moving until you promise that you aren't going to pick a fight that you can't win," his voice softened along with his face, seeing that I was scared. "Promise me."

I exhaled in relief with a smile... and a strange feeling came along with it. "I won't. This is a promise."

My smile seemed to put his aggression to rest. He turned around and started to walk in the other direction. When he got to the very edge of the platform, he waved slightly and fell off the edge of the platform like he was some sort of stunt double in a movie. The unexpectedness of the fall almost made me scream for his life. At the same moment, he soared back up as fast as he fell. And with that, he was gone. I smiled and looked back at the ground. To my surprise, I saw a feather, a black feather. A feather of the raven angel.

The one I had to stay away from the next day.
