It was a while before I woke up again, shivering from the thought of the dream I had that night. My bed was abnormally warm, and that's when I realized that it wasn't mine. I thanked the gods that the electrocuting thought of going to school again did not jolt me awake.
That's when I heard a knock at the door. It was Pit, "Hey, (Y/n)! Are you awake?"
"Yeah, come in," I said, though I'm half-asleep and would prefer to stay that way. That's when I realized that I probably looked like a mess. "WAIT NO! STOP!"
"Huh?! Are you ok?!" he questioned, a bit frantic from my sudden change in answer.
"I'm fine!" Rushing into the bathroom, I skidded to the sink and almost fell backwards on the slippery tile. I shoved the toothbrush in my mouth and combed the tangles out of my hair at the same time.
I was dashing around my room, out of my bathroom and in my closet like I was mad. At that point, it wouldn't be unreasonable to assume I was close to it.
There wasn't much in the closet other than armor, but I pulled out a toga and just threw that over what I had worn to bed. That being some shorts and my favorite hoodie. It seemed to be all I had left.
The toga was made for a boy, but that didn't matter to me right now. I threw on the brown cloth, detailed with a gold hem that shined in the light. Maybe this will help me blend in with everyone a little better.
"I'm here!" I threw the door open to see a very confused Pit holding a tray of food. The French toast on the silver tray was burnt to a crisp, but at least it smelled good. "Lady Palutena made you breakfast because you missed it."
"I missed breakfast?" I asked, as he handed me the tray. "What time is it?"
"Uh, you don't wanna know."
I gave him a look.
"Noon."
"Really!? How am I sleeping so easily these days?" I exclaimed, taking a bite of the burnt French toast. I swallowed it despite the charred taste poisoning my tastebuds. As expected, it was gross, but I had to be nice about it. This was not how I was getting kicked out. "Pit... this is really wonderful. Did you make it?"
"Really? You like it??" he asked, giving me a puzzled look. "Lady Palutena made it."
"She did!?" I almost choked on the burnt toast in shock. I didn't expect such a beautiful, gracful goddess to produce meals such as this.
Pit looked to his left and right before leaning in. "Cooking isn't her best talent. But please don't tell her I said that!"
I laughed a little, letting my guard down at the sight of Pit's paranoid reactions to his own words. It became apparent to me why there was a pizza delivery service in Skyworld. "I can keep secrets."
Pit stepped back, examining my outfit. "Did you find that in the closet?"
"Yeah, I thought this toga would help me fit in here," I explained, suddenly getting the sense that my hoodie and shorts needed a wash after all they had gone through.
Pit's face lit up. "I love it! It's like your own spin on ancient fashion."
"Thanks." I smiled, and I felt it came out a little sad. The compliment actually made me feel good.
"Hey, are you ok?" he asked. "Is it your town? We can talk about it."
His offer was kind, but I didn't want a therapist. And the gods knew I didn't want to talk about it, so I once again led pit down another road of lies. "Well, I used to have a... a cat. But it must have died in the collision."
