“Itachi.” Sasuke didn’t even let Itachi greet him once Itachi picked up his phone.

“It’s past nine, Sasuke; what’s going on?”

“Did I call at a bad moment?”

“Well first time you called, yes. Mia and I were having dinner at our parents’. But now—whoa!” Itachi lifted his arm on time when Mia zoomed past the door to their home, throwing her backpack aside so she had less weight to sprint down the hall. She didn’t realize her rudeness until she made it to the bathroom on time.

“Sorry, Daddy! I gots to pee!”

“That’s what you get for making a bet with your Grandmother.” Itachi sighed, setting aside a package for [Name], and shuts the door with a gentle push of his heel before lifting the phone back to his ear. “I just got home.”

“Hn, obviously.”

Boop! Itachi pulled back his phone to check for an incoming call, and smiled to see it was [Name]. She must be returning his calls, finally. “Sasuke, can you hold? [Name]’s calling—

“Hear me out first.”

“She could be in trouble.”

“Some of our guys are working down there as security,” Sasuke countered quickly. “I haven’t gotten any reports of danger—she’s fine.”

Itachi pulled back his phone again to her second calling attempt, but pressed the Silence option, apologizing silently before returning to the conversation. “Alright, fine. What is it?”

There was a bit of static before Sasuke could respond, “I found Ello, and he goes to [Name]’s school.”

Itachi froze where he stood after setting his keys on the countertop, frowning as he waited for Sasuke to continue after another static ceased.

“I was at her school earlier today. Your suspicion towards this Vin guy... was correct. Vin is Ello,” Sasuke added to darken Itachi’s level of concern, which was now a scale of panic. “I don’t know much—yet—but [Name] may be in danger, used as a personal manipulation tool. I don’t exactly know what’s going on between the two, but [Name] was acting odd-ER when I asked if she was running away from someone.”

Glancing at the ticking clock on the wall (9:42PM), Itachi ran a stressed hand through his raven hair. “She… has been acting strange lately…”

“Then I suggest you talk to her. I don’t want to be the one assuming the situation already, but you should also keep in mind that [Name] may have been followed for some time now. And knowing Ello, Vin-whichever-he had a tendency to become...”

“Obsessed,” Itachi finished for him, and when Sasuke confirmed it with a grunt, his hand trembled; even his tight jawline defined the rage that shook him thoroughly.

“Don’t act on your own, Itachi,” Sasuke warned, already sensing his brother’s discomfort by how quiet he became, which usually meant a lot of unpleasant things. “Be sure to contact me if anything—

“I’m in,” Itachi stated, balling up his free hand at his side. “Just this once I’ll partner up with you, so include me in the case.”

A light chuckle from the receiver indicated Sasuke’s confidence to rise. “We’ll catch the bastard quicker then.”

As Itachi was about to answer, a pair of car lights caused him to turn towards the window. “[Name]’s home.”
