“That’s all for today, people,” the professor wrapped it up with a tap of his lecturing stick against his desk. The classroom lights switched on and everyone started shuffling around to gather their belongings—except for [Name].

She was still in her seat, going through her bag to pull out the work she made up while she was away. Once the professor’s desk was clear from students, she stood from her chair and walked forth to hand in the folder of make-up work she couldn’t do online. “Here you go, sir.”

“Uchiha, are you feeling better now?” he asked as he thumbed through the folder.

“Yeah, I just needed rest away from… people.”

The professor chuckled at her huffing emphasis on ‘people’ and sets down the folder on his desk. “That party must’ve worn you out, eh?”

She answered with a snort and excused herself to gather her belongings. ‘Don’t remind me…’ That in mind, [Name] briefly looked around the room and spotted Vin a few rows back talking with a few classmates. She took the chance while he was distracted to flee from the room, but when she was a few steps away from the group, Vin locked his gaze on her. She tensed up, silently cursing to be caught, but waved her hand to be polite.

“Glad you’re back,” he said gladly, stepping on the aisle to block her path. “I hope those class notes through the phone were helpful.”

Nodding, she was about to return a smile in gratitude, but a couple of whispers behind Vin caused her head to lean aside. Two guys with the ‘we-know-what-you-two-did’ look on their faces made her uncomfortable. “Yeah… Thanks for that, Vincent—I gotta go!”

“Vincent?” he sneered, his eyes followed [Name] as she sped past him. “Hey. Wait, wait.”

Her pace picked up as she ran down the stairs, skipping every two steps, while Vin was barely exiting the classroom. He spotted the ends of her hair as she turned left at a building and followed suit—but was stopped by two girls once he reached the bottom of the stairs, buying [Name] more time to escape.

‘Get away, get away, get away,’ she repeated to herself, picked up her speed into a powerwalk and turned on another corner. Suddenly she was yanked to the side by the arm, her back hit against someone’s chest and before she could protest, a hand was cupped over her mouth. “HMPH!”

“Shush, don’t freak out,” said a male’s voice, one she immediately recognized and groaned behind his hand.

“Sasuke, get your hand off my mouth,” she muffled, deadpanning. When he did, she pulled away from his grasp and spun around. “What are you doing here?!”

“Don’t be so loud!” Sasuke lectured quietly with his index finger over his pursed lips. “I’m here on an investigation and I thought you could be of some help.”

“With what?” she demanded anxiously, constantly looking over his shoulder on the lookout. Sasuke took notice of her jitter—she’d be taking turns shifting her weight on each foot, clenching tightly on the strap of her bag—and stepped in front of her again so her eyes focused on him.

“[Name], are you running away from someone?”

“N-no, I’m…”

“Who is it?” Sasuke turned around at the sound of chatter, and on cue there was Vin a few feet away with the two girls who approached him—though his eyes wandered in search for the girl who was now cowering behind Sasuke.

“Is it him?” Sasuke’s eyes narrowed, turning to [Name] for an answer. She lowered her chin in a slight nod and he glanced at Vin, staring at him for a moment before returning to her once again; he was suspicious, yet satisfied about something according to his smirk. “[Name], I’m going to call out to him.”
