…
The house was quiet… Dead silent. All that was audible were the strong winds outside, swaying the trees harshly to the right, and the clock’s ticking in the kitchen, echoing against every open space.
It was midnight when everyone slept peacefully. All the shadows obediently sat still according to the object it belonged to… except for one.
Coming up the hallway was a slow-stepping shadow, following every movement as his hand brushed along the walls, past the glamour wedding photos and Mia’s baby pictures. His eyes narrowed the entire time he made his way to the bedroom, careful not to make any noise with his steps. He smiled in the darkness to see that the door was already cracked open and halted his steps, quietly pushing the door open with the tip of his index finger.
Inside that room were two warm bodies lying closely next to each other, her right arm draped over his torso and his left arm keeping her closely at his side.
Feeling a slight cool breeze, [Name] squirmed in her sleep and subconsciously pulled the bed sheet higher, stopping right at the tip of her chin.
‘But… that doesn’t make sense,’ she thought, slightly awake. Every window in the room was closed. Each bedroom had a portable electric heater to fight against the stubborn chilly nights that continued even in March, when the spring season was approaching.
Her mind began to weaken; she ignored the distraction and cuddled closer to Itachi, smiling at the warmth he provided before quickly drifting back to sleep.
The figure slowly began pacing through the moonlit room; the curl of his lips belonged to the sighing woman he looked at with hunger. One hand was stuffed in his pocket while the other held onto a sharp object, its tip twinkling as he walked around the bed to Itachi’s side.
Scowling, he lifted the knife at light’s view and hovered it over the Uchiha’s face, the tip of the glistening blade traced invisible gashes as he kept sliding the weapon down, and stopped at Itachi’s neck.
                              …
                              “…ma!” a voice echoed.
                              …
She felt another breeze and peeked open her heavy, sleepy eyes to find a blurry silhouette. ‘Mia?—’ But opened her eyes a little more as she realized what the silhouette was holding in his hand inches away from her, threatening her husband. Nope, definitely not the five-year-old.
                              …
                              “Hey…!” That voice again.
                              …
                               ‘Wait… who are you?’
She slowly began to move when the figure made eye contact with her, smirked and angled the knife close to a vital point on Itachi’s neck, ready to strike…
                              …
                              “Mama!”
“Ah?” [Name] jumped. She turned her head side to side, blinking a few times to find herself sitting on a park bench. Relaxing the fisted hands at her lap, [Name] finally realized she was being stared at by a pouting Mia, and smiled at her.
                              “What’s up?”
“Um, I’m asking you a question but you keep staring at nothing,” Mia complained as she picked up her backpack that was dropped when [Name] came back to Earth. “I’m asking if I can play with those kids”—Mia turned, pointing her finger to the sandbox where a group of children were helping each other build God-knows-what.
