Itachi darted his dark eyes on every passing person, cautious as to who walks by. He was surrounded by booming music, street performers and drunken college people as he waited at the chosen destination— the heart of Venice Beach Boardwalk.
Ignoring the nonstop ringing phone in his pocket, Itachi instead checked his watch to confirm he was punctually on time, yet clueless as to why this setting was picked to meet...
                              12:58...
This had to be a joke. Itachi inwardly sighed, until his right-sided peripheral vision caught a shadow and whipped his head towards it—
                              "Itachi!"
Snapping back, his eyes widened at the sound of her distressed voice, and held out his arms in time to catch her fatigued fall; she gripped tightly on his shirt, muttering incoherent words.
                               "[Name]!?"
Panting heavily, she raised her head and slapped her hands on his chest. "Go!" she shouted, pushing him back. "Please... GO!"
"No," Itachi said sternly, stepping away from her grasp.
                              "You don't understand—
"[Name], I'm here to protect you!"
This is exactly what he wants! Her head shook quickly. "It's YOU who needs protecting!"
                              "Do you not trust me?!"
"I do," she replied softly, holding his face between her palms. "Wholeheartedly, but, please... Trust ME when I tell you... RUN. PLEASE, I—!" Her words were cut off, yet her mouth remained open as her watch began to beep. She was solid, turning her blood cold as she tuned everything out but her alarm.
                              Beep-beep! beep-beep...!
"[Name]!" Itachi shouted as he shook his stunned wife by her stiff shoulders. But she just gazed off behind his shoulders with an empty look in her eyes, reminding herself how everything was her fault. It just had to be. Everything.
                              "[NAME]!"
Her eyes rounded awake and stared at him, frightened. "...T-Time's up," she said shakily, and Itachi scowled.
                              "What—?"
                              Shick, shick!
Within the booming sound of music and cheery celebration surrounding the area, [Name] blinked to her left towards a thick palm tree, where the distant sound of a familiar gun cocked its bullet. As soon as her eyes made direct eye contact with steel ones, she swallowed thickly and gripped tighter into Itachi's shirt.
"Finally... my assignment is complete," Vin muttered to himself as he stepped out from hiding, aiming the weapon with a steady, outstretched arm. And it's as if she heard him, because her voice pleaded out, "Please don't... "
Smirking under his black fedora, Vin pointed his glistening revolver at the man she loves; his finger delicately clasped the trigger. "Away you go, Uchiha."
                              Her eyes widened in terror.
                              "ITACHI!" [Name] shrieked—
                              BANG!
Spring break turned in a sudden panic frenzy —people began to run everywhere like a group of ants— when the revolver fired its spinning, golden bullet straight for Itachi... only to miss when someone got in the way.
She jolted against his chest...Eyes closed, her arms were still tightly wrapped around him when a sudden burning sensation paralyzed her, feeling as though someone drilled a hole at her back and twisted a knife in there right after.
