"Can you believe our spring break was ruined?"
"Yeah, thanks to the cops... It's total bullshit."
"Our graduating class is definitely the lamest in the record books."
                              "I heard someone got shot."
"I also heard it was someone from our school!"
[Name] halted her pen, sighing, and lifted her eyes from her paper. Quite frankly, she was tired of hearing those murmurs everywhere. She glanced at Alex (whose head was buried into her arms on the desk's surface) and elbowed her once, but snorted at her rejection after earning an incoherent mumble along the lines of "go away". She returned to her assignment, but those whispers continued right at her back; it was hard to ignore.
"...and that some random girl jumped in front of a man who was being shot to."
                              "Oh shit, no way..."
"Really? I thought it was just a rumor—
"Rumor or not," Alex suddenly spoke up with her head kept down.  "Let's just hope that person is okay. They could be missing their graduation."
Thank you, sheesh. Smiling, [Name] grunted as her arms stretched over her head and instantly dropped her left arm back on the desk to tend her discomfort.
                              "Speaking of graduation..."
Tuning out their next topic, she focused on rotating her shoulder to ease the pain. The wound on her shoulder was still healing— only to worsen when one of the classmates suddenly slapped her shoulder to earn attention. Wincing, she frowned and turned her head.
"Yo, [Name], didn't you hear me?"
She furrowed her brows in question and quirked her brow to be reminded by the other classmate.
"You know— What happened to him?"
Her eyes flickered from one classmate to the other, confused as ever. "What? Who?"
One of them scoffed and dropped her chin at the back of her hand, while the other rolled her eyes along with her head. "Vincent. Where is he? Don't act like you don't know, I mean you and he are always talking."
She was about to sneer at her suggestive comment but decided to stare back blankly instead, before replying, "I..." But then she paused and shut her mouth. She remembered being told not to mention him to anyone, so all she ended up saying was, "I'm not sure."
The classmate with her cheek on her hand looked at her neighbor, shrugging. "Maybe he's sick."
"But it's been weeks! Graduation is nearing!"
"Then he's probably sick from stress. I mean he is representing the class..."
[Name] turned around in her seat and faced forward as they continued their conversation. They were right though; even she knows nothing of the case—not yet, at least. What she did know is that his whereabouts have been located in the courthouse for two weeks.
According to Itachi, and what he was able to discuss, the case has surprisingly been a difficult one to win. Why was it so difficult? She could only wonder. Vin committed crime after crime, so there shouldn't be any doubts of his guilty plea. Or should there?

"The prosecution may call its witness."
"The People calls [Name] Uchiha to the stand."
Everyone turned their heads towards the named woman when she didn't move. Itachi had to squeeze her hand to wake her out of her stare, but she was just appalled by what she's had to listen for almost an hour: murder conspiracies against the Uchiha family, specifically Itachi (although it wasn't directly stated).
