Kaito opened his eyes with a groan and saw a ceiling made of straw. Again everything was hurting, this time the center of pain was his head. With effort he could get up, then he stumbled out of his straw hut. He was in the middle of a camp full of various huts.

"Good Morning," a cute voice whistled. "My name is Aima, and who are you?"

"Kaito," he replied confused. "Who the hell are you and where am I??"

"I already told you that I'm Aima," she winked at me. "Just kidding. I'm one of your team members and we're in the first world of the artifact, we call it Oritsu."

„Fuck."

Kaito understood. As he had got captured, they had probably planted a chip in his head that they could use to calm him down at any time. Because he had refused Meishu's request, Meishu had used this device to numb him, then they had put him inside this artifact thing, even though he didn't understand how. Here he was, with no choice but to finish the job to get out again.

"Watch your language, please!" someone tore him out of his thoughts. It was probably another team member. "By the way, I'm Shūkyō"

Kaito inspected them both. Aima was slim and rather petty, had an innocent, girlish face and light brown hair and reminded him a little of his little sister who had already died years ago.

Shūkyō, on the other hand, looked rather serious and thoughtful, he was thin, tall, and had dark, black hair.

"How many other team members are there?" Kaito asked after examining them closely.

"Well, Boryōku, Chariti, Don'yoku and Mukanshin. Boryōku is the captain who captured you with his team, he will lead the mission and his soldiers will provide additional firepower," Shūkyō answered.

"Oh, there they are anyways already!" Aima shouted cheerfully.

Don'yoku was a lean, shorter person with a crafty face and dark brown eyes, while Chariti exuded self-confidence and conviction with her tall, slim figure and blue eyes. Mukanshin looked rather bored and separated from the rest of the group.

And Boryōku, the troop captain, seemed very disciplined, as if he was executing every order from his superiors exactly how he should. His huge and muscular stature of an estimated 1.95m would make every enemy tremble and despite his muscles he still seemed to have enough brain, too. His head was shaved so that you could see his head-tattoos. He immediately made clear that he was in charge.

"So you're the little loser who killed one of my soldiers!" he barked at Kaito.

I'll tell you right from the start! If you have enough skills to survive this shit, you will still remember the time here often, and certainly not because it was funny, you sissy!"

"For the fact that I'm a sissy, I really showed it to your "super-trained" soldier," Kaito replied mockingly. Chariti grimaced.

...

Some hours later, after Kaito had recovered from the worst blow of his entire life, Shūkyō explained the mission.

"As you all know, we are here to find the first key that is somewhere in Oritsu.

Unfortunately, we don't know exactly where it is, let alone what it looks like, but we were able to detect increased frequency waves in certain specific areas in this world, which is why we also named them"

He pointed to a map in front of them:

"There are three in total: The devil's horns, two huge, sharp boulders, the Lonely Tree, which is self-explaining, and the Moon Mountain, a mountain that glows in the night. The questions now arises who these strange creatures are. Thanks to our analysis systems, we were able to quickly determine that these are lizard-like predators.

They act in large groups of up to 500 and are everywhere outside. There are also beings that are not alike any creature from our world, like the rock giants.

However, there are also civilized but still primitive tribes in this world who, if they are peaceful towards us, could be an important survival point for us. Now Mukanshin will explain to us how we can defend ourselves against the creatures"

Mukanshin came forward. With a perfect lecture voice that anyone could fall asleep with, he explained that guns wouldn't help anything here.

"It is not even possible to bring our weapons into this world, because they are simply being blocked by the artifact during our data transfer, you could think that someone made it that way on purpose. That means that we have to use weapons from this world, so back to the swords and bows.

Also, as you've probably all heard, the computer-freaks, including me, will be able to use special skills because of their ability to manipulate the enviroment.

These "super-powers" are likely to be different for everyone.

That means, Aima, Shūkyō, Chariti, Don'yoku and Kaito are the strongest line of attack and defense, while Boryōkū and his unit of 30, sorry, now 29 men, will support us with an hail of arrows"

Boryōku glared angrily at Kaito. "One more inappropriate comment and we have even one man less," he threatened, whereupon Don'yoku giggled gleefully at Kaito.

"If you feel changes in your body or in your spirit, then this is an indication that you are about to develop your powers," Shūkyō continued unaffected.

"In the spirit," remarked Chariti. "Leave your religious nonsense, nobody here is a believer like you"

"Well, one day you will recognize your purpose in life and your thirst for the Almighty, I can only show you the way, but you'll follow the path yourself sooner or later. What's your problem with religion, Chariti? You also help people by hacking money from banks and then distributing it to those in need"

"Unlike you, I help people because they need help and not just because the rules of a religion dictate it to me. While your God is just watching while all people suffer, I help them!"

"A yea, a modern female Robin Hood. You're so stupid, you could have kept all that money to yourself," Don'yoku intervened before Shōkyū could reply.

Chariti was angry now. "You are nothing but greedy for money and you are even proud of that!"

"Shut up now, damn it!" Boryōku shouted. "We're on a mission here and not in kindergarten! Prepare yourselves for the operation now, tomorrow morning we will break up to the natives. Rest, because it looks like as if at least one of you could use that," he added with a nasty glance at Kaito, who was still a little dazed.
