[From Kaito's perspective]
Why had I just suddenly had the key in my hand? I hadn't cracked the password at all. And why had the artifact container been in this room out of nothing? Wasn't it in our, the right world ..?
I was still amazed that we had suddenly arrived in the second world.
Aima was devastated right now. She had found her mother again, and now lost again. But how the hell did her mother get in there anyway?
They said they were simply teleported away during the fight. Suddenly they had been in this new world.
Since then they had checked around a little in the new area. This world looked very different from the previous one. In the far back one could see huge, futuristic buildings. They were completely black and covered with glowing, yellow, blue, red and green lines.
The rest of the world was also as dark as the buildings, there was little till nothing of nature in the landscape, it was barren and dark, and a dark, but still transparent mist hung in the air. Otherwise there were only huge rock formations, which, however, were dwarfs in contrast to the huge metropolises back there. The weather had been consistently gray since our arrival, with several heavy rain showers.
Would the inhabitants of this world be peaceful? What weapons were there? With this advanced architecture surely there could be something like pistols ... or even more? Weapons that surpassed our guns in the real world in everything?
After we had looked around a little, we decided to set off first for the giant cities. We would gather information about this world and then decide how to proceed. Unlike Oritsu, we had no idea where the key might be hidden.
I remembered the pedestal with the keyholes. I was still able to decipher a gap for a normal house key and one for a kind of modern security card. Given the technology that could be seen towering thousands of meters from here, we were probably more likely to be looking for the card. Or rather the third thing that I had no idea what it was.
I felt a lot better now. I had been able to bring out all of my feelings for the first time ..
Anyway, I didn't want to think about it anymore. I put my thoughts aside and went on. We had already set out.
Mukanshin, as he had explained, could not do anything with the plants in this area. They seemed empty and dead, and impossible to awaken ..
Aima still hadn't discovered her power, just like me. Weird, I thought I would have unfolded them during my fight with Hiretsuna. But nothing unusual had happened with me since then.
Don'yoku, on the other hand, had already learned to change not only his speed and stamina, but also his strength and clout. He was way ahead of us all.
Boryōku and his soldiers were a little sad, in only the first world they had lost 26 of 30 men. If I and Aima didn't develop our powers soon, we would have a big problem ..
It was still unclear who the killer was. Has it been Shōkyū after all? But that wouldn't make sense somehow .. We all didn't know what had happened with him and the demon which had possessed him. He didn't come with us..
And the dream of Niretsu still haunted my mind. I couldn't make sense of it. 'It's obvious who the killer is,' he had roughly said. But I didn't have any clue.
Now and then one could hear growling in the withered bushes. Some strange animals that scurried past quickly in the dark. Was it night or was it day?
There was no road, so we had to make our way through the rainy plants. Our clothes were now even wetter than before.
Suddenly I saw a hut in front of us, which the actually clear fog had covered. Compared to the other buildings, it was very primitive and reminded a little of old inns in the Middle Ages.
No, it actually was an inn or a pub, we discovered when we got closer to it. A rotten wooden sign read in tattered gold letters:
To the golden Neutrus
Neutrus? Strange name .. but it looked like we were speaking the same language as the residents since we could read the sign. At least a start..
"Shall we enter it? We could get valuable information from the guests", Mukanshin suggested.
"Well, let's hope that will help us", Boryōku approved.
We walked towards the entrance. The hard wooden door had a metal, round ring as a handle.
The strong Boryōku opened the door. Roaring, laughing and screaming hit us, mixed with stuffy and unhygienic air.
We entered.
