Location: 2. World (Tan'i), the red city

„Be quiet"

Boryōku, Aima, Chūjitsuna, and Tsuyoi crept down the sewers. They had seen no trace of the rest of the yellow ones, so they had decided to invade the red city on their own. An unguarded manhole cover, located somewhere within a hundred yards, had been very useful for this.

"Damn"

Tsuyoi had stepped onto a filthy heap that had separated from the rest of the gross, muddy central canal and had settled down on one of the side paths.

"Quiet, we don't know how far we are from the city. Maybe it is already right above us and we don't want to cause a stir! "

"Yes, boss," came the short answer.

The group moved forward through the disgusting odor that floated all over the sewers. The stench hung in the air, almost palpable. Despite the futuristic technology, these corridors were made of pure, old stone that was partially covered with moss. Occasional showers of old water mixed with organic waste dripped down from the ceiling.

The small team climbed over dirt and rubbish and droppings until they reached an intersection. Two paths formed in front of them, to the left and to the right.

Boryōku stopped. "Where?"

"We can split up"

"We have these radios on our armor, if we connect ours to each other, we can get in touch"

Boryōku thought about it. "Good idea. When one team finds the right path, it notifies the other. Of course, it is also possible that both roads lead to the city. In that case we'll meet somewhere in town. We should also get armor from red soldiers so that we are not shot immediately. You then swap the radios so that we can still inform each other "

Chūjitsuna and Aima formed Group 1, the other consisted of Boryōku and Tsuyoi.

After connecting their radios, Group1 went on the right path, Group2 went along the left.

...

Aima wrinkled her nose. In the meantime she had adapted a little to the smells, but still it smelled worse here than in any other place she knew.

Chūjitsuna patted her gently on the shoulder. "A miracle that you made it this far"

"Thanks for that," she replied and concentrated on the path again. She didn't want to step into any of those shit heaps like Tsuyoi before.

They went on quietly. Every now and then they turned to see how far they had gone. The tunnel felt like it stretched to infinity, but the city was also huge after all.

After a few minutes they came to a bend. Chūjitsuna pressed himself against the wall and then carefully poked around the corner, as he must have done hundreds of times in military missions.

"Shit," he swore.

Aima, who was behind him and therefore could not see the way, looked at him questioningly under her visor.

"Combat troops," he whispered softly.

"Why here?"

"They're probably just guarding the entrances into the city. That means we have reached our goal "

Aima picked up her radio. With an unnatural crack, the connection to Boryōku opened.

"We have found the entrance to the city. But a guard is posted under him, we will take them out and take their armor. "
