After everyone had taken a short rest, the group left again. It was now almost afternoon and even if they were all still relatively exhausted, they had to keep going. The weather wasn't as bad as before, but there was still a certain darkness in the air.
Previously, Mukanshin had explained to the others how the forces worked. The brain probably unfolded this part of the brain under extremely stressful conditions. Then in every single part of grass, leaf, or deep roots, he could see a code full of numbers and variables. Since he fully understood this with his computer skills, he knew which exactly of the billions of numbers he had to rewrite in order to manipulate the code. And then he could suddenly grow a bud into a 5 meter large flower in seconds, or let roots shoot out of the earth.
Don'yoku then also explained his power, he only saw the numbers on his own body. At the moment he only understood the codes with which he could drastically influence his stamina, movement and reaction speed, but he could recognize many more, which he would probably all understand in some time.
After a short march they had now reached the Devil's Horns. They were two incredibly huge, sharp stone cliffs, towering thousands of meters into the air, in comparison to them Boryōku looked like a peculiar diminutive.
They were just beginning to climb, as a soldier labeled G-26 started coughing. He had previously said that he had been bitten by one of the reptilian beasts and had felt stranger and stranger ever since. Don'yoku then asked the natives, but they knew nothing. That the lizards would bite had never happened to them. "Maybe wound fever," Shōkyū said carelessly.
"Are you okay, Saisho?" One of his comrades asked worried.
"Just a little weak," he replied and spat.
The other soldier, apparently named Nibanme, patted him on the shoulder. "This freak got at least what it deserves"
The group moved on and a few hours later they stood in front of a cave entrance. The soldier was getting worse and worse, once he vomited green slime on the floor.
"Maybe the beasts have some kind of poisonous fangs," said Boryōku. "But we have no idea how to cure that .."
"Should he be dead by then, or what ??", Nibanme replied indignantly and worried.
"As I said, we lack the knowledge and the equipment to do something about it. At the moment we have to come to terms with it, "Shōkyū replied coolly, but you could also clearly see his concern on his face.
"What fucked up shit," Saisho cursed, his face pale. Snot ran out of his nose, whereupon further "slang" expressions escaped him.
The team decided to move on and entered the cave entrance. It was even darker inside than outside, so a couple of natives lit torches.
"The natives told me the legend of these two rocks," said Mukanshin. "According to legend, at the beginning of this world there were two brothers. One was very wise and shrewd, while the other was incredibly strong and terrifying. Together they defeated the most diverse peoples of this world and made themselves their chiefs. Together they were invincible, and together they were inseparable. But one day the stronger brother wanted more. He also wanted to rule over the other half of the land his brother owned. He gathered his tribes and attacked the other side with them. Then an ugly war broke out, and there is still conflict between the two indigenous tribes.
That's why they fought each other when we were surprised by them on the way to the camp, because they were actually two tribes.
Anyway, after several years of bitter battles, the strong brother suddenly wanted peace. At least it looked like that, but in reality he had developed a serum that would turn whoever drank it to stone. During the peace negotiations he wanted to give it to his brother in his drink so that he "died" and he could become king of the entire empire. But the clever one used his sharp mind and distrusted the supposed peace. He sent informants which should inform him about anything weird they found out about the other side. The clever brother found out about the deceitful plan and on the day of the peace negotiations he switched the cups. But the serum didn't work as planned and when the stronger one ingested it, he turned into a huge, stone monster that was still alive. He used this surprising power and devastated the whole kingdom. Horrified by his unintentional mistake, the cunning brother sought exile and developed another serum that should bring the stone giant to sleep. He then returned and after an almost hopeless fight he was able to instill it in his once so familiar brother. The stone monster slept standing for millennia in the same place, with time earth covered him and the once glorious kingdom up to his head.
