(Y/n's POV)
"J-J-J-Jax! U-um... that was fast..." I said. Killua backed up quickly, letting me see Jax in the doorway, holding Alluka's hand, with one of his eyes twitching in anger, and Alluka's cheeks being a little pink.
Jax let go of Alluka and pushed past Killua and looked over me. Once he made sure I didn't have any marks Killua might have given to me in any way, he gave me a quick hug and turned to glare at Killua. "Is this the idiot who made you cry?" His question made my cheeks heat up again.
"U-uh... well... yes..? B-but he apologized-"
"Apologized? And you accepted it? He was an absolute asshole to you! Why the hell would you do that!? Don't tell me, do you still l-" I covered his mouth with my hand and glared at him.
"Shut. Up." I growled. He slowly nodded, and I let go of him. Killua looked guilty and confused, and Alluka just looked very confused. "I just... let me talk to him for a bit longer, okay? I promise I'll tell you everything in a bit, so don't worry..."
"Fine... come on, Alluka. I'll get you one of those ice cream cones you wanted." With that, they left, leaving me and Killua alone again. I curled up in my bed and stared at him.
"Killua-"
"Y/n-"
.
.
."Sorry, you go first..." Killua said. I nodded and started with saying what I wanted to.
"Do you guys live around here..?" I asked. Killua nodded, and I continued. "I was wondering... if we could talk sometime... you were a really good friend of mine for a while, and I would love for us to be friends again..."
His cheeks heated up momentarily before he spoke. "Y-yeah... I'll give you my address... Gon's actually staying there for a bit while he looks for a place to stay by himself, so he's here too."
I smiled. That's great, but... I want to see you...
I wanted to say it so badly. I could tell, now that he had apologized, the feelings I had tried to muzzle for three years were still there, clear as day. "Actually- I have a question," Killua spoke up again. "What happened to your family? I heard there was an accident-"
"They died." I cut him off as fast as I could. I had never been able to fulfill my promise to Sozoshi and Himei to come back and play a game with them, so I still felt guilty. But it had been over two years. I wasn't too hung up about it.
"All of them..?"
"All of them. Don't worry about it." I sighed. I shivered and then grabbed one of my blankets.
"You cold..?"
"A little..." I answered. Moments later, I felt his arms wrap around me. I blushed again and looked up at him, silently asking him why.
"An apology..." He muttered. "I still feel guilty, so I thought..."
"Thank you, Killua. I appreciate it." I smiled and leaned my head against his chest.
(Killua's POV)
I felt like I had started making a dent in the wall that we had built between us over the last four years. She had forgiven me faster than I thought, so I could only hope that I wouldn't mess up this time.
As her breathing slowed, I became more conscious of every moment we touched. I blushed at the thought of someone seeing us like this. They would probably yell at me and end up making her agitated again...
I let go of her after a while. She grunted as if to say 'don't' but didn't stop me. I sat next to her and stroked her hair while I waited for Jax to return with Alluka. I had honestly missed Y/n a lot. I can't believe I ever let her go.
I wanted to apologize again and repair our relationship, but I thought it over, and that didn't quite feel right. I looked at her, and while I watched her get closer and closer to falling asleep, I realized I didn't want to be friends who talked occasionally and maybe hung out every so often. I wanted her back, not leaving my side again. I wanted her.
I like her. A lot. I always have.
Shit.
I really messed up when I let her go.
(Jax's POV)
Once Alluka had finished her ice cream, I took her back to Y/n's room. When I opened the door, I saw Y/n was asleep and the boy was sitting next to her. I let go of Alluka's hand and growled before sitting next to Y/n and moving to wake her up.
"Don't-" The boy's voice only motivated me to wake her up further. I shook her gently, and she opened her eyes and stared at me.
"Jax... what have I said about waking me up..." Her voice was dark, making me shiver. I shouldn't have woken her up. But it was too late now, wasn't it?
"Don't do it..? Anyways, these two need to leave. We do too, actually. You ready to go home?" I asked, implying that we lived in the same house. I saw the boy raise an eyebrow and grinned. Y/n blinked a few times before nodding. I picked her up and she hid her ears and tail.
"Killua, my phone number is on the nightstand. Call me tomorrow around nine, okay..?" She said quietly. The boy nodded and picked up the piece of paper she always kept there. "See you later..."
"Bye..." The boy said back before watching me leave with Y/n in my arms. I had been trying to get this girl to fall in love with me for three years now, there was no way I was letting her into the hands of an old crush who treated her like shit. She's mine, and I won't let anyone take her away from me, no matter what history they may have with her.
Y/n is special. No one that idiotic could ever deserve her.
End of Chapter.
