(The song has nothing to do with the story, I just like it)

(Y/n's POV)

Warm... was my first coherent thought as I slowly began the process of waking up. I felt someone had their arms wrapped around me protectively. It felt like I was being cradled, like a baby. The faint smell of chocolate surrounded me and I just wanted to stay here forever. The warm, chocolatey feeling that reminded me of years ago when my house and the people in it felt like a home.

After five minutes of contemplating whether to attempt to go back to sleep or wake up, I finally opened my eyes. I saw the pale skin of an arm that was holding me close. I could hear a number being called, but I couldn't tell what it was. A soft voice murmured. "Y/n... you awake?" I lifted my head and saw Killua staring at me.

I mewed a quiet response. "Good. We're about to get off, so I need you to turn back. You wait for me just in that first line of trees, alright?" I nodded and hopped down from his arms. Immediately a breeze picked up, making me shiver from the loss of his warmth.  I quickly turned back into my normal form.

My number was called and I waved to Killua as I stepped off of the boat. I yawned, realizing my headache I always had was gone and my eyes were softly unfocused, the signs that I had slept better than normal. Why is it that I always sleep better when Killua's with me? I thought. I quickly forgot the question and jumped up to the lowest branch of a nearby tree.

(Killua's POV)

Kitten's h/c hair ruffled in the wind a bit as she walked off. The area of my shirt where I had held her was still warm from her tiny cat-body. I didn't take my eyes off her until she seemed to almost disappear once she reached the trees.

For some reason, I wanted her back. I itched to just run after her right now and have her fall asleep in my arms again. But I stayed. This was a girl I had just met not even three days ago! What was I thinking?!

Gon stared at me for a second and then said, "You seem... cold? Are you okay?" I realized I was shivering and then paused. How long had I been staring at her? Why was it I was cold now that she was gone?

"Y-yeah... just..." I trailed off. "Never mind. It's nothing."

"Alright!" Gon smiled and glanced to where Kitten had disappeared. "She's really nice... I'm glad she's my friend!" He announced to me. I raised an eyebrow at him and was about to speak when I heard my number being called.

"Sorry, Gon, but I have to go! See you in a week!" I called as I walked off the boat. As I reached the line of trees, I realized I couldn't see Y/n. Oh god, please tell me she didn't get into trouble already-

"Ah!" I heard a high-pitched laugh and a soft thud as a blur of color fell from the tree in front of me. "Nice to see you again, Killua!" Y/n smiled. I reflexively smiled back and relaxed.

"Same to you." Her smile faded and her yellow eyes stared at something just behind my right hear. "What is it..?" I turned and looked where she was looking. There was a small bluebird on a branch, staring right at Y/n.

Y/n whispered something I couldn't hear and suddenly, she was gone. I started freaking out and looked frantically around. But as soon as my eyes reached the ground, I noticed a small bluebird chirping at my heels. "Y/n..?" I murmured, wondering if she had just turned into the little thing.

The bird tweeted at me again and flew to my shoulder. She turned into a cat again and walked across my shoulders, giving me a cat-smile. I smiled back. Look at that, she turned into a bird. I think I remember she said something about not being able to do that before...

Y/n jumped down from my shoulder and turned back into a girl. "I did it!!!" She squealed. "I turned into a freaking bird! I've been trying to do that since I realized I could become bugs and things like that!" She suddenly wrapped her arms around me and nuzzled my arm. "I did it, Killua!"

I rubbed the space between her ears, and they twitched down slightly. After a moment of this, she backed away slightly, letting go of my arm.

"Actually, I had an idea. Can we talk about this a bit farther into the island?" She asked. I nodded and my hand twitched towards hers. I kinda wanted to hold her hand for reassurance that I wouldn't lose her. I noticed she liked to walk relatively fast, and she got curious about almost everything she heard or saw.

She stopped for a second and then grabbed my hand. She slowed her walking speed to match with mine and stuck close to my side. I felt my cheeks heat up slightly, and it wouldn't go away. Imagine if someone saw this- no, everyone should be a bit farther in by now, and this is better. That way I can't lose her.

I watched her quietly as we walked. Her ears would flick towards whatever new sound she heard, some even I couldn't hear. Her feet were equally as silent as mine, something I hadn't expected, even after spending all this time with her. Maybe it had something to do with her being part cat.

After about twenty minutes, she stopped again. "I think we're good. I don't feel anyone around for at least a few miles." I nodded, also not sensing anyone around. Miles?? How in-tune are this girl's senses?

"Alright... so here's my idea..."
