But... What About Sleep?

We were back on the airship now. Apparently we would arrive at the next phase at 8:00 a.m tomorrow, leaving me plenty of time for a hopefully nice, long sleep. I saw Gon and Killua talking and silently walked over to them, a strange habit of mine.

"They're alive. Probably." I twitched my ears to listen in to the conversation. What are they talking about?

"What do they do?"

"They're assassins." My ears flattened in surprise. They're WHAT?!?

"Huh? Both of them?" ...That's what your worried about..? Should I be concerned? Killua looked at him and started laughing.

"That's your first reaction? Haha! You really are a riot!" Gon looked confused. I wondered if I should show myself or leave them be. For now, I'll just stand by. "You're the first person who's ever responded seriously!"

"Well... you're telling the truth, right?" That's what I'm wondering. He doesn't seem to be lying... but that's kinda weird.

"What makes you think that?" This boy- yeesh. He's something, alright.

"Just a hunch." This is what really killed me. NEVERMIND KILLUA, GON'S INSANE! THAT'S ALL HE BASES HIS TRUST ON?!? My tail hit the wall, revealing I was there.

"OW-OW-OW-OW-OW! THAT HURT!" I grab my tail in pain. Both boys turned to look at me. "AAAHHH!" I fall onto my side, curling up. "Dammit! I hate walls! So freaking annoying!" I hiss. I bite my hand to distract from the pain in my tail, getting up and walking over to them. "Sorry! I heard you two talking and just as I was about to come over here, I hit my tail on the wall..." I glared at the spot in particular, a strange hatred for inanimate objects brimming inside me.

Gon looked concerned, but Killua just started laughing. "Wow!" He sighed. "You both are really weird!" I stared at him blankly.

"I know that. What strangeness in particular has you saying that?" He started laughing even more. I frowned and sat down next to them, laying my head on the ledge next to the window. The two kept talking and I listened while Killua explained about how he stabbed his mom and brother and left.

Interesting. Wonder if his family and mine would get along. Probably not. But you never know, right? I thought. NOT LIKE I ACTUALLY WANT TO KILL THEM OR ANYTHING- why am I explaining this to myself? No one is hearing my thoughts! Dumb me. I must be really sleep-drunk or something at this point... I sighed out loud, making the boys stare at me.

"What?"

I felt my face heat up as I tried to think up an explanation. "SORRY! I was just thinking about something-" Their looks made it apparent that I would have to explain. "Y'know, about my own family and stuff."

"...You miss them?"

"OH HELL NO- Oh, that sounds mean... I mean, not really. We were never really nice to each other. Besides, who misses people they hardly ever talked to?" My old habit of fixing anything that might sound rude in the slightest of ways was back in action, apparently.

I quickly stood up, suddenly remembering  why I had come over here in the first place. "Hey! The Chairman told me to ask you if you want to play a game!" My tail flicked back and forth. When he had asked me it hadn't sounded appealing, but I kinda wanted to see what they would say.

"A game? What kind of game?" I just shrugged and gestured to where the Chairman was waiting. I watched them walk over to where he was waiting and watched.

They ended up playing, and I watched from the ceiling. Don't question how I got up there-

After a while, Killua left and I decided to follow him. That was a mistake. I saw... death... the bodies... I stood silently in shock, trembling quietly. What did I just- "Hey." His voice shocked me. He sighed before walking over to me. "You saw that, huh?" I looked into his eyes for a brief second, and had the immense impulse to run.

I tensed up, preparing to run without meaning to. A split second before I was going to leave, he grabbed my wrist. A shiver ran up my arm from where he touched me. "Y/n. I'm not going to kill you. You don't need to run." I felt a strange confliction. I had just watched this boy kill two grown men, but his voice calmed me. I wanted to run from the killer, but wanted to stay with the boy. Why am I... why are you? What is going on!

I slowed my breathing and relaxed. "W-what... was that?" I asked, looking at the floor. He released my wrist, leaving me once again, conflicted.

"I got really angry and needed to let it out. So I killed them." He stated simply. I had to slow my breathing again before I said anything else.

"That's... how you get rid of anger? Killing? I don't... have a problem with it, but... it scares me a little, I'm not gonna lie..." I noticed I was shaking again. I sat down to try and calm my frayed nerves, and it helped a little, but not much. I heard a small squeak, which had apparently come from me, as Killua sat down next to me.

"So you're scared of me now, huh?" He asked. I shook my head, but I knew that a small part of it was a lie. "Then... you're not scared of me?" I remained still for a moment, but then nodded.

I took a deep breath and thought quickly about what was making me scared. And then I reported it back to him. "I just watched two fully grown men die. I'm not really scared of death, but more frightened by how fast and simple you made it seem. If I were being totally honest, I'd have to say I was a little impressed."

I seemed to surprise him with those words. "Impressed? What do you mean?" I leaned back so that I could rest my head on the wall.

"I mean, you made it seem so easy to end a life. It almost makes me wonder..." If you could end mine.... I didn't finish my sentence for fear that he would leave or start freaking out. I had these thoughts sometimes. I rarely meant it, though. I had some things to live for. So I would never try. Especially with my new friends. I couldn't leave them. That would be terrible.

"It makes you wonder what?" His question startled me, even though I should have expected it. I just waved it off.

"Nothing, nothing! Just some strange thoughts I had. No need for you to hear them!" I smiled at him. "I'm gonna check on Gon but then I'll come back so we can talk some more, okay?" I stood up slowly, my tail swinging back and forth. I heard a small laugh and turned to see Killua covering his mouth as he watched me.

"Like I said, you're so weird!" He giggled. "Okay, Kitten. See you in a bit, then!" He waved goodbye to me.

I felt my heart do a little jump in my chest as he smiled. Dammit, why do you have to make me feel so weird!? Damn weirdo. And he thinks I'm the weird one?!?
