December 14, 1972

Roger was in really bad shape. He felt empty and didn't want to do anything.  Unfortunately, it is because Roger's grandmother passed away 2 days before we visited. Roger was broken and hadn't laughed for 2 long days.

---

"Would you like to visit her grave this afternoon?" I asked. Roger nodded and took a sip of his tea. "Yeah, I have a few more flowers that I want to put on her grave."

I stirred my tea and took Roger's hand.  I squeezed a little to comfort him.  Suddenly Roger looked at me with his blue diamond eyes. A big smile appeared on Roger's face. Finally, he smiled!

"You'll be fine, honey." I whispered.  Roger nodded. "Of course, moments like this are always difficult." Roger said. I got up and looked at the clock. "When do you want to go?" I asked. Roger finished his tea quickly. "Now!"

We got into the car and I sat in the back with the big bunch of flowers. Roger drove carefully on the road. "It's slippery today!" Roger said in a loud voice. "Just drive carefully and you will get there as soon as possible!" I told.

We had arrived at the cemetery. Roger took the big bunch of flowers from me and took my hand. "Watch out An, it's slippery than yesterday!" Roger said. I nodded. "It will work, don't worry!" I said with a smile.

After a 5 minute walk through the cemetery we arrived at the grave of Roger's grandmother. "What a beautiful stone she has received." I said. Roger sighed, "Yes, absolutely, my aunt wanted to say that these stones aren't coming in six months."

"Fortunately she is wrong." I said.  Roger nodded and let go of my hand.  There was snow all over Roger's grandmother's stone. Roger brushed away the snow a little with his gloves.

Roger squatted down and placed the bouquet of flowers on the beautiful grave.  I sat down next to Roger. "May she rest in peace." I whispered. Roger put his arm around me.

Suddenly it started to snow very hard.  We were silent for 5 minutes. "It's snowing, let's go home." Roger said with a smile. Roger took my hand and kissed his dear grandmother's grave.

"I'll cook for you tonight." I whispered into Roger's hair.  Roger grabbed me tight. "Are you crying?" I asked. Roger closed his eyes. "I want her back!"  Roger shouted. I put my hand on Roger's shoulder.  "Come with me to home sweetheart, we'll talk there."

Meanwhile Roger was feeling a bit better. He was in the attic looking through things. I walked up to Roger to give him a cup of tea. "Look what I found Antonia!" He said. I carefully climbed upstairs with my tray in my hands.

"The self-knitted sweater!" Roger said happily. I squatted down, "How beautiful!" I said. Roger nodded, pulling an old lamp from a dusty box. "This had been hers too." He said.  He plugged in the power cord. The beautiful gold silver lamp did its job. A beautiful bright light appeared.

Roger and I went downstairs to have coffee and tea. Roger carefully put the things back in the box. When we got down I started to get some cramps in my abdomen. I rubbed my stomach to want a good feeling back.

- What if I were pregnant?  It will be coincidental, Roger and I have sex every night and we are not doing it safely.  Roger and I have been dreaming of a baby for months. Would we still become parents? - ☆

I didn't show anything and sat down with Roger. We talked about all kinds of things. About our future, I talked about my stomach cramps. "I have cramps all day, but I haven't had my period in a month?" I asked. Roger stirred his tea.  "Does that mean you.." He stopped for a moment.

"I have no idea, it only started today, the pain." I blushed. "But that will be great when, when we, we become parents!" Roger said with a broad smile.

_______

Hours later we were in bed. I gave Roger a kiss and lay down. "If you still have a stomach ache in a week, we'll call the doctor, okay?" Roger whispered. "Okay love!" I whispered back, with a smile. We both fell into a very deep sleep.

3 O'CLOCK IN THE MORNING

A big thump in my stomach woke me up. I climbed up bed to drink water in the bathroom. I couldn't resist the feeling anymore, and that like at the beginning of the day before the pain started.

I was really hungry, so I sneak into the kitchen to make a sandwich.  In the middle of the night I was sitting in the kitchen eating a nice sandwich with meat.  Later, a dark silhouette of Roger stood by the kitchen door. "What are you doing?" He asked softly.  I whispered, "I was suddenly very hungry!" Roger leaned over and turned on the light. "You're pale." Roger told.
I sniffed through my nose and took a sip of my water.  Roger took my hand.  "Come on baby, I can't sleep without you."  Roger said with a smile.

Roger picked me up and picked me up.  "Come on darling, you really need your rest!" Roger told. "You're right sweetheart." I whispered. Roger rubbed my hand and kissed it.  He turned over in his pillow and fell asleep.
