June 1, 1973.

I was wrapped in a blanket in the bathroom.  I kept blowing air because my stomach hurt a lot because of pregnancy. Roger was rehearsing for the band, and I was at home all alone.

Suddenly there was a painful stitch in my abdomen. "Ahh!" I said as I sat down on the floor. I immediately ran to the phone to call Roger!

"Roger come home I'm in bad contractions!" I shouted through the phone.

Roger had come home immediately. I was lying on the floor in the bathroom, my water had already broken which made me panic.

Fifteen minutes later, Roger came running to me. "Come on honey I'll take you to the hospital immediately!"  Roger said. I tried to get up. "I'll carry you baby!" Roger said in a quick voice.

Roger carried me to the car.  I couldn't stop screaming because the pain was severe. Roger put his hand on mine.  "Don't worry honey we're almost there!" Roger said. He started the engine and drove as fast as he could to the hospital.

At the hospital, I was put on a stretcher and driven to a medical room. Luckily Roger was allowed to come along.

"When was your due date?"  The gynecologist asked. "June the twentieth." I groaned.

I held Roger's hand tight. I was allowed to start blowing so that the child was born with speed. "Press harder love, you're almost there!" Said the gynecologist.

Roger had tears in his eyes of joy and fear, our baby was 3 weeks early. The head was the first to be seen, the gynecologist carefully pulled out the body. "Oh baby!" I screamed. I cried so much with joy. Roger wiped his tears and kissed my forehead.

Our little Benjamin was born on Monday, June 1, 1973. Time, half past eleven in the afternoon. Very early, but very welcome Benjamin Arthur Taylor! Welcome to our family little boy!

Benjamin cried and was placed on my chest.  He was still covered in blood. I wiped my tears with my shoulders. "Oh my little boy, what have we been waiting for this!" I sighed. "Do you want to cut the umbilical cord, Roger?"  The nurse asked. Roger nodded and smiled, took the scissors and cut the umbilical cord.

Little Benjamin was cleaned and weighed. Weight 2600 grams. Length 36 centimeters

Roger gave me a hug. "Well done girl, you did this!" Roger said cheerfully. I smiled and hung around Roger's neck. Roger gave me a kiss on the mouth.

Little Benjamin was placed in my arms.  He was wearing a nice outfit that the nurse had put on. And he was wearing a cute hospital cap.

"I prepared a bottle of milk, would you like to see if he can drink independently?" The nurse asked in a whispered voice. I nodded and put the teat of the bottle in the baby's mouth.  Fortunately, the baby drank on its own.  Because Benjamin is 3 weeks too early, which could cause difficulty in breathing or not drinking independently.

Roger sat down in the hospital chair.  Benjamin was in my arms drinking milk. "I'm going to call my parents and yours." Roger said.  He got up and went to the phone. I smiled and rested my head on the pillow.

I was slowly getting very tired from the morphine I was getting for the pain.  "Would you like some rest?" The nurse asked. I nodded and yawned.  Benjamin was placed in a hospital crib next to my bed. I kept looking at my Benjamin.  He was already asleep.

Roger was sitting in the chair next to my bed. He held my hand. "Go to sleep darling, you really need your rest."  Roger whispered. I nodded and closed my eyes, I fell into a deep long sleep.
