"The boy you are talking about... I took him with my magic." The figure was leaning on a cane against the trunk of the tree, he wore a long trench coat, red gloves and a top hat, his face covered. "The heroes don't deserve someone of your friend's calibre, he will shine brightly on the villain's side."
The way cockiness laced into his voice made me seethe.
"Give him back!" Midoriya shouted up at the figure, "Kacchan would never work with villains! You can't force him to do anything, he's his own person!"
"'Give him back'? That's a strange thing to say."
"Give him back!" He repeated, the anger visible on his face.
Todoroki stepped forward, "Move." A wave of sharp ice raced toward the tree, where the man had just jumped from.
We all turned to see him perched on a different tree, higher than before.
"Kids these days are made to choose their paths based on their values. We're attacking the training camp to make a point; we're proving there is not just one perspective to look at. Your values and perspectives are being chosen for you. There is no free will. Just look at little y/n here, she's worn to the bone by hero work, all she wants to do is work at her cafe, and yet here she is. She doesn't want to be here, but she's already made her decision, so now we're letting your friend make his."
I growled, "I'm not little!"
"It's not just Bakugo, Tokoyami's not here either!" Shoji looked around him.
Todoroki looked toward the masked man, "To go out of your way to talk to us. You're underestimating us."
But the villain continued, if he actually listened to anything Shoto said, he didn't show it. "I was originally an entertainer you know. It's a bad habit of mine." Here we go, another villain monologue, if only I could reach him, I would be able to get Tokoyami and Bakugo back and get him to shut up. "Taking Tokoyami was an improvisation on my part." He pulled out a marble and started to play with it between his fingers, switching his fingers to show off a second one, "Moonfish... The man with the 'Blade-Tooth'... He may not look it, but he's a cutthroat on death row whose appeal was dismissed."
"Get to the point magic man!" I shouted up at him.
He cocked his head at me.
"You bastard! Don't take them!" Midoriya shouted.
I was still standing in front of the students so that if he tried to get to them, he'd have to get through me, although he makes no move to. Instead, from the corner of my eye, I saw Todoroki hand Uraraka Mezzo. He was preparing to attack.
I quickly used my quirk and pushed the others back.
He sent up a giant ice wall, the temperature immediately dropping whilst frost covered the right side of Shoto's body.
But the man flew through the air, his voice ringing throughout the trees, "Sorry, tricks and running away are my only redeeming features! There's no way I would fight a pro-hero and students who are hero candidates."
I looked up, I couldn't stop him, he was too high up.
He raised a hand to his ear, "Vanguard Action Squad. Target successfully collected!"
But I can chase after him- and it seems like everyone else had the same idea as me.
"Come back here you bastard!" I shouted.
"I won't let you go! I won't let you get away!" Todoroki followed after me.
We sprinted through the forest, I made sure to stay slightly in front of everyone so that if we were to come across any villains, I would be their first target- not the kids.
"Damn it the mask guys fast!"
"If only Iida was here."
"We can't... give up..." Izuku looked forward determinedly, tightly held against Shoji's back so that he wouldn't fall off, "We have to catch up... and get them back!"
"But at this rate, he's getting further away!"
"I can freeze time so we can catch up" I breathed out.
Izuku nodded to me, "We can get closer and find the perfect place for Uraraka to make us float! Then Asui can throw us as far as she can with her tongue and then Shoji, can use his arms to correct our trajectory and pull us! Uraraka, measure the distance with your eyes and release your quirk when the time looks about right!"
"A human bullet." Both me and Todoroki said at the same time.
"Quick thinking Midoriya." I praised him.
"Wait, Deku, you're still going to move with those injuries?"
"Midoriya, I can't let you hurt yourself anymore, it's my duty to protect you from harm. You should stay behind." I glanced back at him, his body coloured purple by what I had learned was from the overuse of his quirk.
A looked came over his face, "I don't feel any pain right now..."
That look... There was no fighting against him.
"I can move... hurry!"
I activated my quirk and reached out to everyone, the moment of pause quickly turning into preparations.
"Deku, at least let me do this," Uraraka ripped her shirt and grabbed two sticks and splinted his arms with the fabric. She turned to me to confirm if she was doing right and I nodded.
"You're all stubborn, if you weren't, I would be doing this by myself, but Shota gave you the all-clear to use your quirks." I crossed my arms over my chest and looked at them sternly, "If any of you get hurt, or so help me, killed, I will find you, and I will make you wish you stayed behind."
"How-"
"Don't you dare question me, I know people."
"You know the devil?"
"No comment." I felt a wave of nausea fall over me. Damnit, how long have we been here for? "We need to move now, I won't be able to hold this for much longer."
They all nodded and in a few seconds, I had Tsuyu's frog-like tongue wrapped around my waist, as well as Midoriya, Todoroki and Shoji.
Uraraka lifted her hands and we began to float.
"Make sure you save those two." Tsu looked at us and spun herself around, throwing the four of us into the air.
