The emergency services arrived 15 minutes later.

Of the 40 students on the trip, 15 were left unconscious from the villain attack, 11 others had both major and minor injuries, the others had stayed safe and watched the other students get carried away by the medics, solemn looks on their faces.

And one was missing.

Of the pro-heroes, Pixie-Bob was left in serious condition after her blow to the head and Ragdoll went missing, the others were fine, including me, at least I thought so. The medics, on the other hand, weren't so positive.

"Ma'am you need to be checked over."

"Yeah, no, I'm fine right now, look after the others first... Please?"

They had done so and as soon as it was my turn to be checked again, I was already lying against the side of the ambulance, trying to keep my eyes open.

"Maybe I need to be checked on now." I laughed quietly as I was picked up and put onto a stretcher.

"Y/n?"

I turned my head to see Shota looking at me worriedly.

"Hiya Scarfy," I mumbled, "You finished giving your statement to the nice policeman?"

My choice of words alerted the medic who thought I might have a concussion.

"Oh, no, that's just how I talk. My apologies sir."

The man looked at Shota, who nodded with a grim look on his face.

And that's when my brain decided to pass out.

——————————————————————————

I sat up in the hospital bed next to Yuri who sat by my side.

"Thank you so much for bringing this." I nodded to the bag full of food.

"How could I not, maybe your hate for hospital food is why you refuse to stay there for more than one day."

"It's definitely a factor." I nodded.

A silence fell across the room, Yuri had dropped Hizashi off at UA for a staff meeting and dropped in to check on me.

Although it's not like I needed to be checked on, I was absolutely fine. I only stayed because I had to set an example for the students who were in the hospital. According to Shota: 'If they see you leaving, they'll try to follow you out.'.

The silence was deafening, every one of my thought running back to the events of yesterday.

Bakugo.

If only I tried harder, if I had worked quicker, then he wouldn't have been taken.

Ragdoll.

She was gone. How was she gone? I'd literally just seen her a few minutes before everything happened and now I'll probably never see her again.

Not only that, but thoughts of the apartment fire started running through my head again. How long did it take to test a piece of paper? And that scar. I had to have seen that before, right?

I reached over for the remote and switched the TV on, flicking the channel over to Ol' reliable; the news.

"It appears the principal offenders of the UA High training camp attack called themselves the 'League of Villains Vanguard Action Squad'." I scoffed at the name, opening the bag Yuri had brought me and reaching for a pastry. I began to angrily tear at it as the news continues.

"I've never seen someone eat a pastry so violently." My best friend looked at me, "Do you want to talk about it?"

"Do I want to talk about how I was this close-" I made a gesture with my fingers "- to stopping the kid from being kidnapped but my lazy ass decided to drop my quirk?" I snapped, "No Yuri, not really."

My eyes focused on the TV, every now and then flicking to Yuri who looked rather put down by my burst of anger.

I sighed, "Look Yuri, I'm sorry. I'm just stressed out, it just... it just all happened so quickly, y'know? One minute we were all standing around joking with each other and the next the students are being wheeled off on stretchers whilst one of them has been kidnapped and Ragdoll is supposedly dead."

Yuri placed a hand on mine, "don't you fucking dare blame yourself." She said in a confusingly calm tone.

I stared at her.

"Would you like me to repeat that for you?"

I shook my head.

"Good." She smiled to herself.

"Oh god, Yuri you're a scary mum." I breathed out.

"Thank you." She smiled and grabbed a pastry for herself, "I know you blame yourself for a lot of things, but you can't add this to the list because you tried. You tried so hard and you passed out from over-exerting yourself. That's what a hero does, they push past their own limits to help others. You could've just stood there and watched while the villains attacked, but instead you fought back. So suck it up buttercup."

I gave Yuri a grateful smile.

"Miss Tanakashi?"

I looked up to see a nurse at the door.

"Hm?"

"We were told to let you out as soon as possible so you could go for a police interview?"

I did a tiny fist bump.

"I'm so sorry, we can send them away if you want to stay, but we've checked everything and you've fixed up quite well."

I nodded, "Thank you."

The nurse bowed and turned back into the corridor.

"So I'm guessing-"

"Let's go Adachihara." I pushed myself up out of the bed and quickly changed into the spare clothes Yuri had brought for me in the bathroom.

"Come on, come on, come on!" I waved her out of the door and we walked through the hospital until we reached the reception. "Hello, my name's y/n Tanakashi and I'd like to sign out."

The man at the desk gave me a form which I filled out rather quickly, not wanting to spend any longer in the hospital than I had to.

I went to leave before remembering I had no clue what station I was going to.

"Um, sorry, could you tell me where I need to go?"

"Name?"

"Wha- I just gave you my name?"

"It's for clarification purposes, ma'am."

I sighed, "yeah okay, y/n Tanakashi."
